I would add to Eagleman's reply the following:
1. Move the ball quickly
2. Don't dally on the ball but either pass to a teammate (who should have moved into or be in space) or turn oneself and move forward into space before picking out the next pass
3. Look to play and pass through the lines
4. Full backs to play high up when we have possession with DMs falling in behind them as cover when they do go forward
5. Crisp one touch football whenever we can
6. Press high when the oppo have the ball.

I found the first-half exhibition of this refreshing after the last 2 years of you-know-what ball.

All good signs of course, but we should be very cautious drawing any conclusions. Several times over the years I've seen pre season games where we passed it around lovely, only to revert to the long ball, or ultra conservative tactics in league football.

Like most, I would presume that Vieira is using these friendly games to impart his system of play, but he could just as easily be using the games to assess the players, before deciding on his tactics once he knows what the players can and can't do.

Possibly, although Brighty said on a number of occasions during the match that the players were being asked to play PVs system (which today was in a 433 formation). The proof of the pudding, of course, will be as we up the quality of oppo in our friendlies with Ipswich, Charlton and Watford. Today, it was clear that the team was trying to play crisp one or two touch football as often as they could.
