On the back of my Kouyate piece, the other players whose contracts expire at the end of next season are, Is there any players worth offering extension before they expire, for me Definatly Schlupp, And maybe Ayew, not the others

If Tomkins can stay fit he's well worth a new deal. McArthur is now at the stage where you offer one year deals towards the end of every season depending on how his body has held up and how he's getting on.

A lot will depend on how the first half of this season goes. If it's seriously looking like relegation then we may choose to let them all go and build with youth in the Championship. However, if we are holding our heads above water then I would want to see us offer extensions to all of them except Jach, basically because if we are emptying the transfer kitty in this window, we may not have further funds next year so will need to rely on what we have.

Tomkins and Schlupp for me But this depends a fair bit on who we bring in this time. Tomkins is an injury liability but we do need some experience at the back and it's one position where age is perhaps less significant - barring greater susceptibility to injuries. Schlupp is a personal favourite who I think is underrated but he is also hugely versatile - a good quality in a squad that will be thin for a time. Originally posted by Lanzo-Ad

No need to make a quick decision on any of them. Tomkins is 32 and Jimmy Mac almost 34 so time is not on their side. Pretty sure you can add Kelly to that list BTW

Pretty sure you can add Kelly to that list BTW Thank god I’d keep Tomkins and Schlupp. I wouldn’t imagine we can sustain this sort of spending each year so we may need to keep the more experienced players next season as long as they are likely to play a part. I agree on Tomkins and Schlupp, but could look to Jimmy Mac to stay in another capacity. He has been cited (by Cahill?) as as strong leader and we could keep him to earn his coaching badges and work his way through like Paddy Mac, Derry and Dougie.
