My mate’s Fulham supporting sister said the same apparently

Made in Bromley

I should imagine an announcement might not be too long in forthcoming.

The Athletic were reporting at midday that he's had his medical and it will be a 5 year deal at 22m euros with 5m add-ons. They say that he is expected to sign the deal once the terms of transfer are finalised.

Looking very promising. With Andersen, Tomkins and Guehi our CB situation will look very good.

Excellent if complete (and you can delete the cheeky reference to Brighton on his wikipedia page)

However 3 out; 2 in. Enough cover? Will we stick, or get another, or do we have anyone ready as back up from U23?

I think we are still in talks with Kabak. Whether that's because he's back-up in case Andersen falls through remains unclear, although IMO it was interesting that once we got Guehi signed, all interest in Nelsson of Copenhagen seemed to end, and we may find the same thing happens here.

As for the U23s, I don't think anyone's ready yet but it will be interesting to hear how Rich-Baghuelou gets on at the Olympics, assuming he gets on the pitch, of course.

Those U23 watchers on the BBS don't think much of him and hope that he goes out on loan to a L1 club which they feel is about his level.

Don't tell Lanzarote Ad though as he will get upset

I'd have thought we'd want a range of seniority in the position, and ideally leave a gap in the squad for an u23. Tomkins is the main man, Andersen second given his age and experience, then Guehi, who will expect to play lots of games given Tomkins injury record, then finally the best u23 Centre back, who will play on occasion when injuries and suspension bite.

On top of all this kouyate can of course drop in again, so we've always got options and cover.

And don't forget Kelly AND Jach

Also if we ever get Ferguson fit he apparently can play anywhere across the back line.

There was an interesting piece in the papers about Paratici the new man at Spurs.

One of his favoured techniques in negotiations when at Juve was to identify one target he really wanted but to express interest elsewhere simply to drive the price down as it was less possible to hold him to ransom.

Is Dougie learning new skills?

Kelly could do a job in fairness, and Jach will come in handy if run out of training ground dummies.

In seriousness, if we sign another centre back after Andersen then we will run the risk of blocking the development of the ones we've signed already. Get Andersen in, then move on to other parts of the pitch.
