This looks suspiciously like our strongest line up as it stands Guaita I assume Benteke and Luca are still in conditioning phase and so not available from the off. Interesting one is Clyne over Ward. Can we expect news of a new contract there. Kouyate at the back may also be a temporary measure while Guehi comes up to speed but equally it may be that PV sees Kouyate at the back primarily.

Luca is on the bench. From what ive seen so far, Wickham is a far superior player than Mateta. Agree with you about Clyne.

Mateta has been woeful in his striking thus far against Ipswich, and on present display, not ousting Benteke for #1 striker spot. Yeah the Clyne situation is interesting as no announcements on a new contract yet he's playing the pre season games.

What is the situation regarding Mateta anyway? Is he still on loan and if so do we have the option to get rid of him and bring someone else in before the start of the season?

Yes, if Tekkers has coughed up the money to watch Palace TV this afternoon he won't be having a sleepless night worrying that his place is in danger. We can only hope that Mateta is match rusty and what we are seeing is not representative of what he has to offer.
