In hia last season at Dortmund, acc to a local news oulet in the Ruhr valley no less us and Southampton are interested. Even with Gallagher and Olise I still think we need more presence in midfield - Delaney is 29 years old and wud be like having the James McArthur of five seasons ago rather than the admirable but slightly faded version we have now - a defensive midfielder with mobility and offensive flair. Transfer fee wud be relatively small for his ability/pedigree, but wages wud be high I suspect.

You forgot to mention his poor injury record which should be enough on it's own to put us off

This was being spoken of a while back wasn't it? Can't say I know too much about him if I'm honest, besides the recent Euros.

Not sure we want another 29 yo. I'm not saying all new players have to be under 23 but we surely want players with some resale value and who won't break the bank wages wise. His injury record is worrying and his goal and assist return is poor.

So a No-no from me .

Don't be silly... That will be enough to make us sign him... We love signing a crock.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

I certainly do not expect to see Delaney at our club.

I don't know why you're being so scathing, his brother Damien never let us down

Of the players playing at the recent Euros that we could afford/attract to Selhurst, Delaney stood out for me, along with the young lad Ruben Vargas of Switzerland.

I wonder if the link is historic, in terms of us being linked with him when Favre was reputedly set to join as manager.
Favre and Delaney had a good working relationship at Dortmund and Delaney was supposedly one of the players Favre identified as a player he would like to sign should he become manager.
I think he’s a good player and was impressed with him at the Euros.
He would enhance our midfield options, but as others have suggested, he is 29 and prone to injuries.
There may be better options, but if not I wouldn’t be averse to him joining.

Great at the Euros

But even before you look at age and fitness his wages of around 80K just scream no.

A signing we would have made a year or so back but not now.
