Was this a ploy to give the players a breather? Don’t understand why we didn’t have them on Sat unless I was missing something!

I believe this is down to Covid restrictions as they want to minimise the hand contact on the ball. Usually, there are spare balls dotted around the perimeter of the pitch, but didn’t notice that on Saturday. When I watch my local non-league team, you aren’t even allowed to throw the ball back when it goes into the crowd. A steward has to retrieve it.

Other Premier league matches had ball-boys or 'pitchside spherical projectile monitors' present at their matches so I don't see why Palace couldn't have organised them as well!
