Please, please let PV start Edouard, not Benteke when we play Brighton. He looks the more likely to score.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Does anyone know the way? Did we hear someone say? |

One swallow does not make a summer. And remember Matteta, one goal against Brighton and he was THE answer according to many, and thats certainly not turned out to be the case. All that said, I'm now going to contradict myself and say yes please do start Edouard. Strikers thrive off of confidence and Edouard is the one with form and confidence at the moment. What does it say to him that if we have purchased him to be our main goal threat and don't play him when he has been exactly that.

But how can you be so sure starting Olise is the obvious selection, to the point where you start questioning PV's abilities, after seeing him for a combined total of about 11 minutes? Ayew did well last game. Carried well, worked hard and won a stack of fouls.

The guy has won leagues, Euros, World Cups, has all his coaching badges, watches the players in training every day, is (granted early days) making a real positive impact on the club. But you obviously know best, and if he doesn't agree with you then you question his ability.

I hope he does well, obviously, but for only my opinion, a strange, line up, and strange subs, only time will tell.

We weren't clinical upfront and our defending at set pieces was poor on Saturday. Coupled with poor (biased) refereeing left us coming away with an unflattering 3 Nil score line. Jairo was at fault for 2 of those set peices. Indeed as technically gifted he his, on Saturday he ran around like a headless chicken. Maybe it's because he hasn't digested PV's methods yet. Either way, I see Luka moving up PV's pecking order now. Ayew is a hard working, combative, skillful player but has no pace. Benteke does do good work for the team but he is a striker who wants/needs to be spoon fed and like Ayew lacks pace. Wilf was the only real option when it came to breaking the Scouse's highline on Saturday. Perhaps both Edouard & Olise aren't match fit. I agree with most here, they will soon replace both Benteke & Ayew. The U23's highlights, 6-1 drubbing of Leicester, showed once again just how talented Rak-Sakyi is. I'd like to see him as an option off the bench, sacrificing a holding midfielder. We've not seen Hughes yet but on current form Jairo would be dropped. PV is still getting to know his team but the trajectory is, without doubt, promising. Edited by GujiRascal (21 Sep 2021 1.26pm)

Edited by GujiRascal (21 Sep 2021 1.26pm) Rak-Sakyi was outstanding against Leister, he came off after 62mins when we were 6-0 up, and don't forget he is only 17, playing against U23s, Street looks good, he seems to have grown about a foot
