Just heard Dean Smith is the latest casualty of not being perfect. And Daniel Farke has indeed done so. These guys have worked hard brought success but a few defeats and it is the chop it seems.

I wonder how much will be spent this year in the Premier League on paying up the contracts of sacked managers (and presumably their retinue of trainers and coaches).

Dont forget, Warnock went y/day as well with Chris Wilder appointed straight after
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I was just thinking with these continual departures, is there actually any benefit in a manager busting a gut, or just going with the flow. You may as well relax and enjoy, you could get fired regardless, hoping you have enough contacts to resume your place on the merry-go-round.

The 'transfer' window ought to apply to managers too. That would be fun for a lot of clubs, especially Watford.

Not sure where Norwich, Villa, Watford (probably fairly soon again), Manure, Sandcastle etc are going to find managers from. BFS can only drag one crap team out the mire per season. If you look at manager availability there are few recognised quality managers about, so these teams are going to have to recycle your Smiths, Bruces and Farkes or take a risk on someone as we did. It will be interesting to see what happens the next couple of months.

We were having a chat at work about how Ole is still in a job. He has to surely be the next to go? I feel particularly sorry for Farke. Just got his first win and has clearly got the weakest squad in the division - hard to believe a change of manager is going to have any effect on Norwich staying up.

An interesting idea but probably not feasible given that the stuff a manager does isn't governable by the football authorities (training the players, setting the tactics, picking the team etc). Such a rule would likely have led to our relegation in 2017/18.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Norwich have no money and in fairness to the owners the club is run on a break even policy. So why on earth is Fun Time Frankie Lampard interested? If he takes the job after turning us down it will be interesting to say the least.

They have a sensible transfer policy, they have a regular, medium sized ground support, they don't try and buy their way out of trouble and they have picked up multi millions in parachute and promotion payments the last few seasons. Rather than them being skint I think they are reasonably happy with their business model which appears to be, too good for the Championship, not good enough for the PL. I don't think there is anything wrong with their model. Yes, they have a dull year watching their team lose most games, but this is normally followed by an exciting year either winning or finding promotion from the league below. They remind me of Palace in the up and down years.

It's why I don't think Lampard is a good fit.
