Just a thought that if we do fail to keep Gallagher, which seems likely. Him going back to Chelski will mean Barclay will probably be further down the pecking order. He scores goals, assists and has a good engine. Only 27 too. Could be worth trying our luck with a cheeky bid?

Agreed he is ideal for a top six squad not a first team player but one who can come in and do a job for a few games. I think he lacks consistency which is why he gets dropped at every club he's played for. On his day a quality player unfortunately he only does that a few times a season. We cannot afford a passenger like that the top six and Newcastle can.

When he first went to Villa he looked like the signing of the season, a bit like Gallagher does at the moment but his form fell away really badly, so no, we don't need Barclay. And anyway, there's no reason to think Chelsea would want Gallagher back any time soon so I don't think we have much to worry about.
