I have no objection to paying for treatment (£85 round here for a basic check & polish due to the scarcity of the species), as long as the dentist has paid privately for all his own training and examinations to qualify....... if they are NHS trained, I feel they have a bit of an obligation to give something back to the people who paid for it.

Been banging on about this for years and not just dentists. Anybody who works in the NHS for say 5 years should have their student loans paid off as a thank you.

I pay about £200+ a year for a dentist plan that includes 2 examinations and 2 hygiene check ups. I was NHS for 40 plus years but my dentist retired and I couldn't get an appointment when I needed one. My new dentist is great but I am fortunate enough to be able to afford it.

Even when; thanks to said training some are earning north of 100k, the dentists and doctors. Also it’s not payable until you hit a certain salary and then it’s not a huge amount. I think the fees were put in to stop useless degrees and there are plenty out there. I also think core subjects should be free. English, maths and the sciences as they are useful to the future of the uk generally.
Why do you go twice a year. I go when it hurts and haven’t been for a few years. Even a clean can aggravate things. I have my own pickers and scrapers so a basic diy clean up does for me. Still got all mine bar one so not too bad.

Well nurses don't earn a great deal so this is a barrier for many potential ones.

As you get older your teeth are only going to get worse. My dentist recently saved one of mine (I have lost 6) because he stopped the rot so to speak before it became a problem.

But for most people once a year is probably enough.

Nobody in history did more damage to this country.

Former Labour speech writer Andrew Neather allegedly told the author of the book that the aim was to “rub the right’s nose in diversity and render their arguments out of date”.

[Link]

His aim was always to destroy this country and I think he is now very close to succeeding.

12 years? Ancient history. After all who blames British imperialism for anything?
