Does he have a point or is he just a bad loser? Personally I think he has made himself look a bit of a p**t. Discuss

Not a snooker fan but this statement is pathetic. I thought it was going to be about amateurs not knowing professional tournament rules or etiquette or doing something wrong. Instead he is bleating because he got beat fair and square by one, well boo hoo. What he is really saying is that he wants snooker to go back to the days of Joe Davis when it was a closed shop and a nice little earner for the favoured few.

I watch every snooker event. Watched the match, it was pretty exciting. Sin Jinhui was 5-1 up, missed an easy blue and Murphy started potting long balls and making breaks. 5-5 deciding frame Jinhui (or something like that) missed an easy red. Murphy got in but couldn't finish it. Eventually Murphy got a long pot but missed an easy blue, leaving Sin Jinhui no choice but to clear up. I suspect Murphy was just annoyed about the result. I was thinking golf has plenty of amateurs.

Murphy is supported by other snooker players, they want a closed shop, that would be to snooker's detriment. Edited by beak (25 Nov 2021 9.14am)

Murphy is complaining about the pressure that professionals face that amateurs don't. Well what about the pressure an amateur must feel when suddenly they are in a high profile tournament playing in font of a large audience and even a TV audience. I would imagine that player is thinking "don't make a fool of yourself in front of millions" and "if I do well here this is my chance at turning pro" etc. No as beak says the pro's want a guaranteed income and the best way to do that is to restrict access to the professional game.

It's moments like this that make me wonder what Lily Allen would say.

The definition of a professional snooker player is someone who earns their living at it as opposed to doing it as a hobby
