I am sure we both behave like civilised people and uphold the laws. One of which requires you to pay the licence fee if you watch live TV. So you DO have an obligation to pay the licence fee, whether you "give a damn" about its reputation, or not.

However, I think we all ought to care about its reputation. As our national broadcaster, it is one of our most prominent faces to the world, which makes many of its judgements on what they see and hear from the BBC. That reputation is really very good everywhere, except in places where the truth isn't palatable or even allowed to be broadcast. Trump dissed the BBC. That's a pretty strong recommendation for me.

The BBC reflects the UK of today. That not everyone likes what shines back from that mirror is obvious, but you ought still be proud it's there, British and independent. Rather the BBC than Sky, Fox or anything touched by the hand of Murdoch.

And Joe Biden refused to speak to the B.B.C. because he’s Irish. How strong a recommendation is that?

When being pursued by dozens of reporters with microphones and said with a big smile?

Hardly anything other than a tongue in cheek riposte to get the door shut. Not a serious view of the quality of our national broadcaster. Nearly all US presidents like to say, “I’m Irish,” but traditionally this has not meant being anti-British. The Irish vote is important. Biden is no different. Trump was the outlier.

just because there is a retirement home in Mayo that is full of senile dementia, it doesn't make Joe Biden irish.

The Tasty jerk centre at Selhurst is more irish than Joe Biden.

Pay for a BBC TV license ? yeah, right.

Don the con would have made a decent ring master. He has all the pomp and strutting needed and can certainly blow his own trumpet.

I think Nellie might have given him a sly kick up the ar*s on the way out of the ring, though.

Whereas no one would trust Sleepy Joe to sweep up afterwards.

Trump doesn't need anyone else sweeping up after him.

He has an army of ars*lickers at his disposal ready to clear up any mess he makes and provide him with deniability.

Well I meant sweeping up after the elephant but if Sleepy Joe’s control of his bodily functions is as efficient as his control of the economy he needs a clean up crew everywhere he goes.

Whilst I recognise the political spin implicit in it, especially as the recovery from the pandemic is underway, you might like to consider this along with your assertion:-

It isn't though nonsense. It's true, but you also have to consider the context.

The Biden administration is doing OK in trying to recover from the impacts of the double whammy of the pandemic and the disastrous 4 years of Trump. Restoring some degree of calm and normalcy, whilst taking radical measures to stimulate the economy, is exactly what was needed. That some just concentrate on Biden's physical attributes is as daft as concentrating on Trump's dyed comb over.

Trump's pre pandemic ecconomic policies were very successful, nonsense to call them disastrous. Then you quote some rigged chart that Goebbels would have been proud of.
