I think Mark Hudson was a decent loan signing circa 2004 before joining us on a permanent deal.

Kevin Phillips for his play-off pen v Watford in 2013. Andre Moritz said he wanted to take it but Kev told him, no chance.

I can’t remember, but we had him and Kenny Brown from West Ham. We really kicked on with those 2 in the team.

2 different seasons that was.

Maybe in relation to Reece James but it might also be very tempting quickfire £xm for someone who has never played for their first team? It's possible an administrator might want to find new clubs to stop loanees coming back wherever possible at the end of this season and adding to the wage bill. They have a lot of players in that camp.

Only big thing where they might want to keep the likes of Gallagher and James is their wages will be less than the likes of Havertz and Kante (for example).

The significant factor may be whether Chelsea are bought by someone unwilling to pump the sort of cash RA did and run the club more sustainably. Or whether the club goes into administration.

A buyer may call in the best loans and sell the super high earners (though no idea who will buy Lukaku?) with the focus on league success.

An administrator may see better economy in also selling the bigger earners who won't renegotiate and selling loan players to host clubs who can afford them with a different focus on creditors and survival.

The difference is administrators have no cash to inject.

I feel like we had a lot of loanees who were very committed to CP and gave 100%. It's in their interest to make the most of the opportunity of playing time. The biggest difference with Connor is his impact, excitment and that he comes across as a good egg.

Good call, Super Kev!! Maybe that’s why he was so calm as he tucked away the penalty, he knew if he missed he could just bugger off

Wasn’t there a Jason Crowe on loan for us … he was pretty awful

He was indeed, on loan from Arsenal.
After he finished his spell with us, Alan Ball signed him for Portsmouth for quite a sum of money, the exact figure escapes my memory after all these years.

Yep, what a player he was, old Leftfoot!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

He wasn't the most gifted and only played 6 games for us but he weighed in with 3 goals in those 6 games, which for a left back was an unbelievable return.

I think he endeared himself to us Palace fans as 2 of those 3 goals were against Millwall and Charlton!!
