i just heard the morning news on my local radio station in Ireland. It was along the lines of......

'and in the Premier League, Arsenal suffered a shock defeat which will significantly compromise their bid to finish in the top four. They conceded the first goal after x minutes with a second goal getting past their keeper just before half time. Mikel Arteta said that their performance was just not good enough and that changes will need to be made in their overall tactics....

Granit Xhaka got a yellow card for a shirt pull and Smith-Rowe was carted off with a suspected knee injury

cue a ten-second recorded clip of Arteta post-match...

And in other news, Will Smith will not be seeking medical attention for his hand after b1tch-slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. Later we will have a one hour expose of all the latest developments in this big news story from last week.

--------------------------------------

Eagles, i sh1t you not. The Media are all a bunch of birth-canals.

What was worse was on the BBC Sport website. Two photos of Klopp and Pep placed looking at each other with the caption: '2 Managers, 3 trophies - who will win what?' As one trophy is the FA Cup how insulting to us (and yes, even Chelsea), as if it's just about them two.

Two words you often don't hear at all in a match report are 'Crystal' and 'Palace'. It goes without saying that we didn't win last night, Arsenal mysteriously lost. This follows Man City dropping two points and Everton being in disarray.

I agree with you Palazio. Just made a point on the match thread that both Arteta and Lampard felt it necessary to apologise to their supporters for losing to Palace.

Bloomin' insulting! Bet they wouldn't have apologised if they'd lost to Liverpool or Man City!

Talk about having to work hard to gain respect. Maybe, just maybe, the tide is beginning to turn.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Am hoping to read a headline as ‘Chelsea fail to reach FA cup final’.

Yep usual thing…..my example is…..NOT a defence splitting pass from our Great Dane for the second goal, but only came about because of poor defending from Arsenal

The Media are a bunch of self entitled knobends, but they pander to their sensationalist readership. It's not really about disrespecting anyone - even though that is commonly a byproduct - as long as they're not disrespecting their readers they don't give a sh*t.

The 'well supported', fashionable clubs will always get the headlines. 'Arsenal are Sh*t' will always be a headline over 'Palace are Great', until Such a time that we are fashionable enough to start costing them sales.

But's let's not forget, Arsenal were Sh*t last night - we played excellently and put them to the sword - but they were sh*t.

Furthermore, I'm quite happy if no-one respects us enough.. just makes us more dangerous.

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"

Agree with OP would state that this is nothing new however.

Would also like to look at the other side of it too. I still very much see our club as for our fans and has not been hijacked by the media or the unwashed hoards of tourist or glory hunting spectators (refuse to call them fans).

I hope this isn't misinterpreted, but there has been more than one occasion in years past where we play the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, City or United and the crowd look more suited for Disneyland than a football match. Groups of South East asian fans with selfie sticks, families taking photos all together, grinning inanely and holding match day programmes or tickets, the yuppie with his soya-free latte sipping 'partner' and so on.

Give me a bacon sarnie, a few in a local wetherspoons and an undoubtedly delayed and overly busy southern train to trounce though Norwood to a rickety old stadium any day. Also love our generational fans, always see the youngsters evoking memories of my own through to the old and even very old, all Palace, all exhibiting the true identity of a 'football fan' and not the likes which the media constantly pander to these days.

I still very much enjoy the chore of dragging myself on to a train headed for Norwood J in the morning, only to meet my brother, old man, a few pals or whatever, and then letting my sleep deprived grumpiness transform into excitement, with a bit of bile build up in a far more tangible hatred for the opposition, whomever they may be, before making the familiar pilgrimage to Selhurst Park. Keep your pristine, state of the art stadia, your 100,000 'day out' fans, your sponsorship deals, headlines and so on.

Match day at Selhurst, not much changed from 10,20,30 years ago...Love it!!!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Why the constant moaning about it ? It's not hard to understand the clubs with the biggest following will get the most media attention, it would be like a British champion moaning about not getting the same media attention as tyson fury. People care as much about palace as we care about Norwich or Burnley.

Rooney, commenting on Sky, opined that our first goal was 'lucky'. Great floated free kick from Gallagher, Anderson, battling bravely gets a head on it, Mateta, in exactly the right place, nods it in. If Man Utd had scored that, Rooney would be celebrating the 'sheer class.' Palace do it, it's lucky.
