Ahhhh... football!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We are well stocked at right back in terms of quantity, but AWB walks straight in as first choice doesn't he?

Haven't seen enough of Richards yet, albeit it was telling that Vieira moved Clyne to LB on Monday which suggests Vieira sees Richards as far stronger on the right. Neither Clyne or Ward are anymore than a 6/10 at RB playing in a back 4. Neither are much going forward, Ward has pace question marks and Clyne is a liability in the air.

I don't see the point of a loan move, but if it's a permanent at £10m then it's tempting.

I think a loan with an option to buy is a good compromise.

We can then take a look at AWB to see if he fits in with our way of playing now - not something I would take for granted. However PV must see something in it if we are genuinely interested

I think most players have improved under PV and if AWB was to come back I'm sure he'd get him ticking over nicely. I don't think bad form at United can be looked into too seriously as it's been a an absolute sh*show up there. Yes people have said his attacking qualities have been the reason, but we're not exactly Real Madrid. His athleticism alone will provide us with a greater threat down the right.

If it does happen it'll continue our trend of replacing our RB's with previous players. Clyne replaced by Ward. Ward replaced by AWB. AWB replaced by Ward then Clyne...

CPFC could of course still be owed a sum from Man Utd as part of staged payments from the sale of £45 Mill rising to £50 Mill.

That's weird, I had loads of conversations last week and I don't think AWB was mentioned in any of them either. I wonder what all of this means?

I've been thinking about this and I'm not sure that PV has "improved" many of our players. That may be a strange thing to say but rather than improving players I think his tactics have released most of our players to play to their strengths. RH's safety first tactics held many of our players back, emphasising team structure and shape over flair and creativity.

In respect of the specific case of AWB, I agree Man United have been a sh*t show for the last couple of years and this has probably had a negative effect on his progression. The quality of coaching has to be questioned too. AWB isn't the only young player at United that has failed to progress (e.g. Rashford, Elanga). I think with the right coaching and perhaps a more stable dressing room AWB can become a solid Premier League fullback or even a right-sided CB in a back 3. He's never going to be the quality of Trent Alexander-Arnold going forward but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good addition to the squad at £10m.

The question is whether he's humble enough to accept coming back to us isn't a step back in his career but rather an opportunity to prove Man Utd and their fans wrong. A chat with Zaha might help in this respect.

Is he not versatile defender but primarily right side CB?
