Man U, surely worse than us - seriously? They're like a team of Galacticos who are actually just rubbish but massively expensive. I'm not convinced anyone can save them.

Just goes to show how the sheer power of personality can hold a football club together, even one as big as Man United, not everyone’s cup of tea, but take a bow Sir Alex Ferguson, it’s all gone steadily pete tong ever since he retired

Although a lot has happened in football finances & in the strength of other Premier League clubs in the last 10 years, it seems as though United haven't developed in the same way as others have.

Agreed. Twenty years ago United under Ferguson were the school bullies. They outspent everybody and whilst they made transfer mistakes on the whole Ferguson recruited wisely. Since the new oners they still spend but not as much and some of the other clubs have played catch up "the noisy neighbours". Add to that they have not spent wisely paying top dollar for average players. Oh dear how sad, never mind.
