Finally someone on a mainstream platform is pointing at the real problem. We are seeing an intense political realignment. People who agree with Neil Oliver may see themselves as left wing, centrist, libertarian, conservative or whatever. They see the same problem whether they agree on the solution or not. It's a war mongering, authoritarian and technocratic elite that see themselves as a different class to the rest of us. Conservative or Labour, Republican or Democrat we get the same result every time and it's not in the majority interest.

Mark Styne has also been a revelation.

Np of course you don't. You just like to waste our time.

There is nothing the least bit tired in pointing out a lack of real evidence. Statements like "those that run the game" demonstrate that. It's all in the imagination of those being influenced by the seeding of divisive ideas on social media platforms, whose initial sources can probably be found in Russian or Chinese troll farms. You are being used as gullible, willing servants to destroy that which you claim to love.

There is nothing new in us having a hierarchy whose role it is to determine and run policy. It's part of a democratic system. There's nothing new in having journalists report on it and investigating wrong doing. There's nothing new in some trying to manipulate the system to their own benefit, or in us trying to stop them.

What's new is to describe those involved as the "elites", and suggest there is some shadowy over-arching plan behind it all.

What's new is that many of the current problems demand action on a global scale, which mean new institutions are required to suggest and coordinate our responses. This isn't the least bit sinister. It's a refreshingly, sensible and praiseworthy modern approach to how we respond in a fast moving, interdependent, world.

There will always be some who constantly look backwards and have feet of clay. I am though glad we now have enough with the vision to see what is needed.

The only place such a realignment is taking is in the relatively tiny groups of political ideologues who spend their lives watching other political ideologues on videos or social media.

Mainstream politics is not impacted and the vast majority of the population don't care.

Promoting the idea that there is an "elite" conspiring to deny the people what they need is the currently popular theme. That it's obvious nonsense doesn't stop it being widely believed in these circles.

I am just grateful that you seem to get so much satisfaction in hearing your voice in the echo chambers, and that won't make any difference outside of them.

It doesn't.

Unfortunately, in today's world, the "useful idiots" are all being soaked in disinformation and conspiracy theories provided by political "influences" on the internet.

The existence of commercial influencers is an established fact. Why then do you resist the idea that political influences exist and that you are being exposed to them?

They have been active for years and are the very reason that the platforms are spending so much time removing fake accounts.

Your observations are all in one direction and therefore suspicious. You attempt to debunk anything that does not fit your world view, and this tells us that you are not objective.

I observe what I see and tell it as I see it. I debunk untruths. Which clearly makes you feel uncomfortable, as you offer nothing but personal criticism in response.

I see nothing objective in the kind of assertions you make. They are nothing more than conspiracy theories designed to confirm entrenched biases.

You don't have a clue what is true, you just think you do. You live in a bubble of self delusion and I have better things to do than indulge your narcissistic smugness.

I haven't looked into it but I have to suspect that recent policies have had some kind of impact on Neil Oliver.
If I were to guess, his academic career has been ruined by current wokeness. Nearly impossible to get funding for actual research anymore. As a white male it's almost impossible to get a job in academia. There are quotas - usually quite explicit.
Another guess would be divorce by the look of him. Anyway, I'm sure someone has looked it up

that's a rather boring rant, even by your standards.

Getting back to the OP, i reckon Neil Oliver has committed career 'Hara-kiri' by expressing his opinions.

Thanks for the laugh. That you describe me as being in "a bubble of self-delusion is priceless". Never has a pot been so black. Which you must hate.

I don't regard myself as narcissistic, or smug, but can see why someone with a tonne of chips on his shoulder might reach that conclusion. It must be very frustrating to be so wrong about so many things, yet still be so determined to prove they are right, that they twist themselves into knots.

That's no rant. No anger there, just an explanation.

I like Neil Oliver as a TV presenter. He is informed and interesting. Politics is clearly not his strength, so he would be well advised to stick to areas he knows and adds value to.
