Read my post properly, when did I say this time last season, I stated we are 12 goals and 4 assists down from last season. Those goals haven't been replaced, we are relying on Eze and Olise to start chipping in at some Stage.

Eze has already got 2 of those assists. And he's good enough to get the 8 goals that Connor got last season. Need the lad to step up

This time last year we were saying that we desperately need a quality striker and a RB.

Things don't change,and this year I also don't suppose we'll get either.

We are playing a dangerous game. Benteke not replaced, Conor not replaced we are very short of bodies in midfield. This will be a tough season, only Bournemouth look like the whipping boys. Injuries to key players could be catastrophic

In 2 games time, Eze will have already played as many Premier League minutes as he did in the entirety of last season.

Eze is the 'Gallagher replacement'. If anything, Gallagher was the Eze stop gap whilst injured - there's no way Gallagher would have been allowed to play the majority of the season as the attacking midfielder if Eze was fit.

Looks like we were waiting for the domino’s to fall in our favour for our transfers to happen but the dominos didn’t fall. I would rather we stuck with what we have at this stage than sign the likes of Meyer, Soerloth again.

Exactly my thoughts! But hope that the experts at the club know better.

Same old same old...

If you go to the supermarket hoping the thing you really need might have a yellow reduced sticker on it, you are usually disappointed and end up buying that tired old melon no one else wants...

As good as he is, Eze is not a Gallagher replacement.
They have very different skill sets.
Eze is an elegant runner with the ball who glides over the pitch and who seems to dribble past players effortlessly.
Gallagher is a dynamic player who specialises in running into channels, pressing defenders and getting into the penalty area.
Whether it’s Gallagher or not we’re after the current balance in midfield does not look right and , in my view it’s McArthur and not Gallagher who needs replacing.
No easy task to find such a player who can perform all the midfield roles with such energy, commitment and skill.

Hoping against hope we bag a midfield general which is essential if we are to progress but, like a reliable RB or a striker, they are like gold dust.

All very well to recruit promising youngsters from lower divisions
as a long term investment but we need 'up and running' PL calibre players.

I think many of us saw this coming. The grabbing of good deals on deadline day seems to have stopped years ago. Too often the dominoes don’t fall and clubs don’t replace players.
We should have had a Benteke replacement lined up for the next day and similarly we should have done the same for a midfielder.
Looking at how the Premier League looks this year, we could easily be in for a relegation struggle. The promising window last summer has not been built on.
