Who’s laughing? Love a bit of ELO

I saw them at Fairfield Halls, Croydon in about 1968. Excellent they were too

Nice!! The closest I’ve came is seeing ‘the ELO experience’ a few times, who are very good

Surely ELO hadn't yet formed in 1968 and Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne would still be playing for the Move.

Seem to remember 10538 Overture was their first single in the early seventies.

I always loved Pulp's song 'Something Changed'. Conversational, yet pretty and relatable. Cocker always managed to create interesting themes and perspectives in his music. Quite an eccentic character, and a real talent.. [Link]

Midlands Eagle will call you out as a pedant, as he did me when I dared to state a fact in another thread.

Maybe Midland meant 78? Which is when I would regard them as in their prime

In fact in 1968 Jeff Lynn was still with Idle Race. He left them early 1970 to join The Move after failing to achieve much commercial success with them. I did see them play at the Fairfield Halls in June 1969 supporting The Nice, although I cam remember nothing of their performance that night.

On the subject of Glastonbury, I wrote in my OP that my festival days are over, then on the news last night I saw an 82 yr old lady going through the gates with a walking frame for goodness sake and telling us her secret for getting near the front of the Pyramid stage.

Made me feel a tad feeble I have to say. Good luck to the old duck I thought and hope she bloomin' well enjoys herself.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Well an 80 year old is going to be performing!

Just a comment really. There always seems to be a Welsh flag flying from a tall bendy pole at the front of the crowd soon after kick-off.
The flying of the Welsh flag not only signifies that the Welshies have arrived, but seems to coincide with all the toilet seats being shat all over, thus rendering them largely unusable.

Just saying could just be coincidence
