I cannot see Olise being risked or Mateta. Otherwise a near call.It will be good to see how Johnstone does.

I'd be keen to see Mal and Richards get 90 just for a look even if against weaker opposition. I still think Olise will only play a bit part as to whether that's from the start I don't know.

Like the formation with Schlupp as LWB however I question whether we would need, or look to, play a back 5 against Oxford.

If that were to be the team in any circumstance I'd certainly be pleased. Is it just me or did PV state he wants to give cups a go this season????

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

PV made it clear that he wants to keep the momentum going. Whilst I don't expect him to play the same XI who started on Saturday because we'll need to be in top shape at the Etihad next Saturday, I do expect him to put out a strong XI tonight.

I can see Richards coming in for Guehi or Andersen and possibly Ebiowei getting a start. If Vieira is thinking 5-4-1 again for Saturday then Mateta at CF and Edouard out wide left in place of Wilf is another possibility.

Anyone who can take a penalty is "in"

So Zaha won't be playing then.

I would like to see something long the lines of this.

************Johnstone*************
*****Ward***Andersen***Richards***
Rak-Sakyi***Hughes***Doucoure***Riedewald
****Omilabu****Edouard***Ebiowei*****

I think rak-sak deserves some game time in the first team, Edouard needs some confidence maybe he can score in the cup tie to weaker opposition in order to give him a boost, I actually think Hughes played well v Villa so a full game here could let him prove his reliability to be called up consistently, Doucoure more game time to get bedded into the palace ethos, as for Riedewald and Ebiowei its good to give olise and Zaha a rest as well as eze, give them some game time, (maybe schlupp in for riedewald)
Think even though this team isnt quite as strong as many would like if we're taking the cup seriously, i believe it still has enough to do the job, we could have some strong subs to come on in case things look shaky.

Ah haven't been kept up on transfer goings the last 2 weeks.

I guess in that case maybe pull Omilabu back and give Kymani-Gordon a shot.

Played extremely well for the U21's.

Indeed he is. He scored early in their midweek thrashing of Plymouth and played another hour at the weekend. Looks like he'll be getting the regular men's football he needs at a level that will do his confidence the world of good.

As a recap, the following youngsters are out on loan
Rak-Sakyi at Charlton
Banks at Bradford City (scored at the weekend)
Hannam at Bromley (National League)
Adamarola at Coventry City
Malachi Boateng at Queens Park in Scotland

Rumour is that both Plange and Jake O'Brien are going out on loan to Belgian 2nd Div club Molenbeek, the club Textor has an interest in. Not sure how reliable the rumour is.

-----------Johnstone------------
Ward---Richards---Tomkins---Clyne
-------------- Luka--------------
------Riedewald----Hughes--------
Olise ------- Mateta -----Ebiowei

Olise needs minutes, Mateta can hopefully get on a scoring streak. Got enough quality and experience in that 11 to beat a League 1 side.

If struggling, I'd like to see Eze, Schlupp, Eduoard introduced.

If cruising, would like to see Killian Phillips and Luke Plange given a run.

A comfortable 3-0 with some confidence boosting would be ideal. I hope we can go a long way in this comp.

Rumour has it he's on his way to Textor's Belgian club for the season.
