Could have been better but at what cost ? Lets see where Forest are in the table come January, all very well throwing cash about in a panic to appease the fans but no guarantee of points. We may not have the depth we wanted but still look OK & come Jan' we'll still have cash to spend (hopefully)

Forest are ridiculous and I hope they go down because of it.
We needed to strengthen though because it is necessary to keep moving forward in this league whether we like it or not.
Time will tell of course but going defensive against Brentford at home when leading and on top generally doesn't have a good look to it!

1) We didn't lose anyone we didn't choose to let go.

2) Doucoure looks a very good acquisition.

3) Ebiowei showed some spark when he came on as sub against Arsenal but, unfortunately, plays in a position where we are strong.

4) The jury's out on Richards.

5) Yes, I'm clutching at straws.

6) We look weak in central midfield and still don't have anyone who looks like scoring regularly apart from Wilf.

7) If we fans can see where the team needs strengthening I'm pretty sure Parish and Freedman can too. But they chose not to.

It's easy to spend money when it isn't yours. As fans none of us knows how much is or isn't available and, fortunately, we don't have the backing of any Saudi murderers.

9) Do any of us know whether, for instance, Phillips is ready to make the step up? I doubt it but maybe the hierarchy think he (or another youngster) is.

10) Some serious activity will be needed next summer when Wilf goes, as I assume he will. Maybe we were holding funds back to have a kitty then?

11) Rak Sakyi seems to be doing well at Charlton, maybe he will come back and step up?

12) There you go, I've run out of straws to grab.

A lonely voice of reason, amongst the usual moaners. I not sure what people expected, the club invested in the Academy to bring young players through. The days of buying the likes of Benteke and Sakho on huge wages are gone. Vieira knew the plan when he arrived, dont forget he failed at Nice and was sacked.

The positive of the window, we still have Zaha, Eze and Olise.

On the evidence of Oxford United, he's nowhere near ready.

It's been a telling 6 days for Palace, with 3 capitulations - 2 on the pitch and 1 in transfer activity. The optimism of last season seems to have quickly evaporated.

I can see that Palace didnít want to spend money for the sake of it, Iíd have hoped that we would have had a decent punt on Gallagher if he was available.
Decoure seems an upgrade on Kouyate, but weíve lost Connor from the first team. Although Eze /Olise coming back after a long time seems like 2 new players.
I just donít see why we didnít use the loan spots. With 2 keepers and players (Luka) that are no longer good enough, making the bench, surely filling the loan spots would have been sensible.
Looks like weíve got a decent 13/14, after that , not so good. Itís a saving grace that we donít have many that will be going to the World Cup.
Just hope they all stay fit.

Assuming rules haven't changed there remains the free agent list, I am sure that even though it wouldn't be the place we would expect to be shopping many a bargain has been had over the years from salvaging someone's career - especially if we are looking for a specific type of player to do a job for a limited period of time (example midfield aggression - 1-2 seasons) -

Additionally - I would be looking at Sherwood forest player list, with all of the players they signed I would think that the possibility that some dont make their registered list of 25 players is quite high - again, whilst I know there will be some out there that say if they aint good enough for Forest why are we bothering ? Forest have upgraded on some of the players that they initially bought meaning there is a strong possibility of unhappy players - Think possible loan deal ?

There are probably other avenues out there to be explored

Just my tuppence worth -

So rather than signing the players we need, we actually sign players that someone else doesn't need. An interesting strategy.

Yeah your opinion but as a fan of palace why would you say we deserve to struggle. Thatís such an odd thing to say. People have been praising Dougie and SP for signing Eze and olise, Andersen, Guehi, weíve had a disappointing window but we are a small club that canít afford to spunk money on over hyped players.
Iím a bit disappointed we couldnít resign Gallagher but Chelsea kept him. It is what it is, we are a lower mid table established premier league team and I like the way we are going.
If you expect big money signings then your supporting the wrong team. PV will have to work with what he has which I think is as good if not better than last season

To be honest Lefty, I donít want us to struggle, I think like most fans I am frustrated at a half baked attempt of a transfer window. We all know there is a fine line between mid table and relegation, and this season could be ever closer. We havenít stood still we have gone backwards due to a couple of players not being replaced but at least 3 others being older and unreliable. You only had to look at our subs bench on Tuesday night.

There were 3 months to identify targets and plenty of back ups. Sometimes you have to accept that you wonít get your initial target, especially if we canít financially compete. However, to leave significant gaps in the squad is meaning a few injuries and we are likely to be struggling. Those around us and below have attempted to move forward, we have failed to do so.

Yes we need to buy and re-develop Selhurst Park, but it is plain to see that SP and those who saved our club do not have bottomless wallets. It will be a struggle with the financial resources at the clubs disposal. Fans should keep the pressure on but not abuse those to whom we owe so much.

Thanks YT - I am sure SP & DF will be able to rest assured that there is nothing out there worth looking at because if it was it would be under contract with a PL club already & have a number of zeros after the £ sign -

Exactly this. Only 11 games until the World Cup. Truth is that this squad is good enough until the end of the year and we don't want to waste a lot of money now not knowing what we will need in January.
