Good lad, met him a time or 2 on our travels from deepest Lincolnshire to Selhurst and other outposts. To give some of you locals an idea of long distance supporting is like, the recent home game against Brentford meant taking half a day off work, jumping on the train from Newark, catching the last one out of Kings Cross at 11.30, arriving back at Newark at 1.00 before an hours drive to Nettleton Towers. And then up for work next day at 5.30

Being slightly "Devil's Advocate", shouldn't we be slagging him off in the same way that we slag off Manure fans from Reigate? Where is the line drawn?

Fair play to him. Sounds a bit mad - a bit like the rest of us.

I suspect there will be a number of supporters like me who started to support Palace when we lived in South London (1970s and 80s in my case) but who then moved with their job elsewhere (West Midlands in my case in 1989 and still there). I have an ST and try to make every home game apart from Boxing Day. The Chelsea game will be a challenge given the rail strike but I expect to find a way.

Respect to you. That's my situation too. That doesn't apply to this guy though. Don't get me wrong; I regard him as a Palace legend, but surely we can't have it both ways by lauding him while sneering at supporters of other clubs who have no regional connection. "We support our local team" and all that, is what I'm mischievously calling out; not this fella.

Sneering at the example of the Man U fan from Reigate (& others like him) really focus on - Glory hunting + Never actually going to a game - Neither of these could you accuse this guy of -

My joke on this is that I've been to Old Trafford four times. More times than any Man U fan.

And more times than Wilf when he played for them!
