Can anyone explain why the Fanatics felt the need to get all excited during Last Post, which was supposed to be followed by the minutes silence which required crowd to start clapping which immediately led to a flare to be set off? Totally embarrassing. Sort yourselves out.

Sorry folks, the Palace fans were silent during the playing of the last post,it was the Forest fans who were not observing it at the far end of the ground. The minutes applause was ridiculous nobody understood what was going on the referee didn't either.

The minutes applause was ridiculous nobody understood what was going on the referee didn't either. I’m not entirely sure it was intentional but there were definitely some Palace supporters singing at the start of the playing of the Last Post. There was a Palace song being sung from the corner of the away section (Block W). In fairness it may have been from the concourse area behind the seats and so those involved may not have been aware what was happening on the pitch. A number of people were then shouting out for them to stop which just compounded the disruption and noise levels. Despite announcing the Last Post would be followed by a minutes silence, not everybody in the crowd was on message and some applause when the Last Post concluded just set off more applause and the referee then tried to avoid an awkward situation by not trying to resume for the minutes silence. Again in fairness to the referee a lot of the Palace players had broken from the centre circle and were starting to run away to continue with their warm up anyway. He was looking to the touch line for guidance and got the message to abandon the attempts to observe the minutes silence. Those were my observations. One way to avoid the confusion would have been to start with the minutes silence and then play the Last Post towards the end of that. Edited by Phil’s Barber (13 Nov 2022 12.27pm)

In reply to the simpleton user; The noise was coming from (as always happens in this situation) the piss heads chanting in the concourse, unaware of what's going on. It sounds 10x louder due to the silence elsewhere. The silence was observed by the HF and rest of our fanbase. The pyro was started well after when everyone stared cheering for the match.

Loved the pyros, long may they continue! It sets us apart from all the other boring clubs supporters thats for sure

The right time to remember those who have fought and died on behalf of our country is on Remembrance Day, i.e., the 11th day of the 11th month (which was last Friday), or on Remembrance Sunday. I don't know whether football clubs feel they have to stage their own event for the sake of public image, but I believe it's an inappropriate setting, and as this thread illustrates, it invites problems. Did it happen in the past? I've been supporting Palace for an extremely long time, and I don't remember it. Mind you, my age may have something to do with that!

Well said Dean, it annoys me when people who weren't even at the match have a go at the HF.
