It was our 'first team' out there and they couldn't beat Southampton! After a six week break they have returned as losers. Obviously, this is relegation form so alarm bells should be ringing LOUDLY at the club. ACTION PLEASE!!!!

Anyone for Dyche??
We have just lost to the bottom club and P.V. appears clueless to address the slide.

Personally I'm not panicking. I think to say we were awful today is a push. Saints fans were booing their team in the first half because we were so dominant. Second half they had two chances, one of which was a gift from Guiata. We played some good football in patches and if we'd won this 2 or 3-0 I don't think many people would have said it was undeserved. Our final ball and finishing is still off though, which I don't really see a new manager fixing. I do think we need more leadership on the pitch though as everyone seems too passive aside from Wilf.

I feel for the fans who attended the game in horrible conditions and can understand the frustration, but I do think Vieira has earned some patience. Unfortunately for him and us it is a tough run of games ahead of us which I struggle to see us getting much from.

Wow, you really did see a different match to me. You sure it was Palace you were watching ;-) Doesn’t matter that Saints fans were booing them, we were just as bad and eventually worse than them. Two awful teams that will go down unless drastic changes are made by each club :-(

At one-nil up Ayew conspired to hit the bar from five-yards after a beautiful passage of play and the commentator was eulogising about how well we were playing. Up until the freaky JWP goal we'd completely contained Saints and it looked like we'd win comfortably. Second half we weren't as good and struggled to create much and then Guiata gifted them the win. I didn't say we played well, I just said we weren't awful, in my opinion. Ward and Ayew were really bad today though, pointing again at the need for investment.

We've got some tough games coming up so there's no point in hanging about. Get the man a train ticket to Selhurst as soon as the strike is over.

It's easy to blame Vieira because he's an obvious target. And yet, every one of his critics acknowledges that we have:

* only ONE at-least-average Prem quality midfielder
* only TWO healthy at-least-average Prem quality defenders (Mitchell's fitness being a ?), and
* ZERO at-least-average Prem quality strikers

Zaha, Eze, and Olise can be included in the pile of plus-talented players, but the lack of quality attackers forces Zaha to do everything solo. And, as lovely as the two young players are on the ball, at this stage of their careers they are defensive liabilities in a team which is woefully lacking.

This is why a player like Gallagher or even Gallagher Light (McArthur) would make such a huge difference, turning every 2nd or 3rd one-goal loss into a draw, or draw into a win.

It's apparent that something has to change and soon. I suspect Vieira will eventually get the push, but the reality is however we bring in is going to struggle with this lot.
We had years of an ageing squad and though we had a good summer window in 2021, we have had two since which have been inadequate and it seems we will have another one which will be the same. Probably 5 out of McArthur, Luka, Riedeweld, Ayew, Tomkins, Ward and Clyne should have been replaced by now.
No point buying promising youngsters if they aren't going to get any game time. We needed players for now.
We have only one premier league quality midfielder (Hughes is a decent standby), both right backs are only back-ups at best, and we have ONE left back. Two forwards who are probably amongst the weakest in the league.
Yes we have Zaha, Eze and Olise but they are flair players and we lack leaders and hard workers.
The squad has more holes than a sieve.
Perhaps time to go down and start again.
The board doesn't want to back the manager and I can't think of any manager (Dyche included) who will get a tune out of the current squad without significant incomings.
Even if we stay up, it is going to need a £100million plus spent in the summer window to make us competitive.
We have been on a up for a decade. I suspect the Palace rollercoaster is about to descend.

As fans of Palace, we are kept very much in the dark re the structure of the club, its shareholders positions individually and their plans for Palace. It must go without saying they want us to succeed, but despite my constant probing of their financial positions and desires to move us forwards and upwards, it remains unknown.
From what Ive read, there is currently little inclination or any willing to inject a necessary fund from existing shareholders to advance the club.
We are in a position now to grow the club but it desperately needs funding.
I fear without a decent injection of cash right now and some serious re evaluation of our overall management, our team management and our game management plans, this afternoon we are looking pretty rudderless.
I really hope Im wrong, but I haven't read, seen or heard anything to allay my concerns.
