Papers suggesting Tomkins in for injured Andersen. Any doubts of a defeat now fully put to rest.
Safest bet is Manu win and Rashford to score.
How many more home defeats will the manager last??

Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978

Anything better than 0-2 has to be considered a good result but based on recent performances and Man Utd’s current form it’s difficult to be optimistic.

Palace 1 United 17

Ayew scores a wondrous, 97th-minute worldie to narrow the deficit after rounding seven United players (6 of whom were admittedly falling over laughing) in response to Aaron Wan-Bissaka's sixteen-goal individual performance, the most in a single game by any right back in the history of the world, ever. Shortly after the final whistle, Steve Parish attempts to calm angry Palace supporters by announcing we've finally concluded our first business of the transfer window, selling Mark Guehi, Wilfried Zaha, and Michael Olise to a bigger club. Alan Pardew appears, claiming "I cleaned that window". West Ham expresses its delight at the three incoming Palace players. Fanatical CPFC supporter Willo s***s himself in Sainsbury's car park. When asked what happened (by Mrs. Willo), he remarks "things have been loose at the back all night".

All the pointers suggest another heavy defeat.
Often i'd fancy us causing a shock. I've always fancied us in "no hope" games.

Not this one though. Depressing.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Here is some inspiration via the stats BBC have chosen to publish ahead of the game:

Crystal Palace

- Palace have lost four of their past five league matches, failing to score in any of those defeats.
- The Eagles can equal their longest Premier League losing streak under Patrick Vieira: three games, set between November and December 2021.
- Crystal Palace are winless in all nine league fixtures this season against teams currently in the top half of the table (D3, L6).
- They have already equalled last season's final tally of four home defeats. All of their dropped points at Selhurst Park this season came in London derbies.
- Palace are winless in 13 Premier League home games played on a Wednesday since beating Aston Villa in their first such fixture in February 1993 (D7, L6).
- Wilfried Zaha can go six consecutive Premier League appearances without a goal for the first time since January to April 2021. He has three goals in his last three games versus Manchester United.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I was at our 9-0 defeat to Liverpool, that faithful Tuesday night, but the worst i saw was the 5-0 defeat at home to Wimbledon, and i fear tonight may not be enjoyable fair.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

The eternal optimist in me (while agreeing with all of the above) wants to think that, playing with absolutely nothing to lose, perhaps the shackles will come off and we'll just go for it while Man Utd simply has an off-night. It would be so very, very Palace to pull a random top-drawer performance out of the clear blue sky and win. But honestly, it's very hard to see that happening. Still, we all know what happened in the next Liverpool game, a few months after the one at Anfield you reference above. Strange things do happen.

If things don't go well and there's any anger/frustration to be displayed, I hope it's directed firmly at the director's box and not at Viera and the team. While the latter may be imperfect in many ways and there are selections you can question, the complete failure of the club to support the manager and augment a squad that clearly needs help is the single biggest cause of the problems we're facing now. It would be no bad thing if Parish was made aware of that.

Other than the score line being ridiculous a good sensible post 1-17 how can any sane fan think we will score
