There are two types of owners now. Those with the GDP of a small country and everyone else. When we donít have the former Iíll take Parish any day. Yes he has a massive ego but show me anyone who earns seven figures plus annually who hasnít. His obsession with the club as an extension of his own image is precisely why I trust him. If the club fails he fails. And heís smart enough not to let that happen. How many clubs outside the big boys have owners doing a better job? Some but not many.

I agree with you, however.... that kind of chairman only works in lower leagues, not the prem.

If palace were in the champ, had a good academy, churning out decent youngsters that go on to bigger things and and give palace a nice profit, a nice cup run here and there, regular devoted supporters, that's the chairman we all want - it's the club we want. We want to be entertained, we want to feel part of a culture, aiming for something.

To compete in the prem, it's a whole different ball game. Just look at the costs, the prices.. one man can rarely do that alone.

It would not surprise me as a minority shareholder all Textor needs is the vote of one of the other Americans.

I hope it doesn't happen as SP has done more for the club than anyone. I dont trust Textor (yet).

What we don't know is what is the real issue here:

1. Textor wants us to buy some of his rubbish player from his other clubs.

2. Textor wants the club to borrow more money to fund the transfers and SP thinks this is reckless.

3. SP is not prepared to put his share of money into the club so holding back the funding of the others.

At this stage my faith is with SP, time will tell.

I don't pretend to know but my gut feeling is no 2. I sense that Textor may think that becoming highly leveraged is the best way to make progress - if that is the case then very dangerous IMHO.

I canít pretend to understand the complicated ownership/ executive structure of the club.
What does seem clear though is that the various parties donít have aligned objectives which canít be a good thing.
1) Parish is obviously committed to the club and sees the way forward as the establishment of the academy (achieved) and the building of a new stand to increase capacity.
2) Harris and Blitzer appear to be passive investors with little interest in the club and an objective to invest in a larger Premier club (first Chelsea and now apparently Man Utd).
3) Textor has an objective to establish multi club investments around the globe with players moving around the various clubs presumably to enhance value ( perhaps some parallel with the Watford model).

The only party who appears to have a primary objective dedicated to Palace is Parish. From the outside it looks confused.
Both Harris/Blitzer and Textor came in with a fanfare and subsequent investments in the transfer market, but now there appear to be issues around future direction and mixed messages from the key players .
You have Parish giving an interview saying itís a difficult market with perhaps one or two loans at most.
On the other hand you have Textor dismissing the story from Nixon the journalist that Palace will not be spending any money in this market.
You also have the Palace fan and Guardian journalist , Ed Aarons, reporting of the tensions between Parish and Textor.

Against this backdrop you have Vieira after every game talking about the need for additions to the squad which I think must be evident to everybody.

Iím not sure how much longer we can continue to operate successfully with this confused structure which appears to be hampering our future direction as each party pursues their own objectives.

If SP walked away from Palace tomorrow, either because he quit or was pushed out by some boardroom high jinks, Palace would be the poorer without him (I dont mean financially poorer, I mean in terms of logical, structured management decisions with the long term good of the club at heart) & I have no doubts whatsoever that he would be in place as CEO or MD of another club very quickly if he wanted to be -

This without sufficient information from Man City and Chelsea. However, as someone pointed out earlier, he puts a lot of his salary back into the club, so how could he be in it for the money?

How do you know that Textor's objective is to move players around his clubs as I've never seen that quoted. In fact he has denied that apart from youngsters

One wonders if we do strengthen the squad by buying that much needed central midfielder whether Vieira would actually play him as he seems to think that the sun shines out of Schluppy's bum

Textor has been quite open about the multi club approach under his umbrella and his dream about moving players around clubs.
Weíve already seen evidence of this and heís an avowed admirer of this method.
One assumes this is to enhance value as opposed to destroying so I donít believe the statement I made to be controversial or contentious.
I can send you more detailed information if youíre still disbelieving.

Nonetheless, the central point I was making is that the investors donít appear to be working in tandem and seem to have different objectives.

On that we can agree although we don't know what is the truth and what is media spin.

Did Parish know about Textor's multi club dream when he first came on the scene as he may have been so blinded by the prospect of Textor funding the squad renewal that he ignored it.

Harris & Blitzer are a bit of an enigma as we don't really know what they are up to and if the rumours of them buying into Manchester United are true then what will happen to their shares. Presumably Parish knows

Sadly itís not media spin.
Harris and Blitzer were listed as official bidders for Chelsea.
That doesnít sound like a commitment to the Palace Ďproject.í
Parrish gave an interview to Palace TV a few weeks ago with direct quotes about one or two loans at most this window.
This was reflected in Nixonís piece in the Sun that Vieira would not get funds for this window.
Textor responded to Nixon on twitter saying Nixon needed to get better sources and reiterating his financial commitment to Palace.
It seems unlikely that Parish wouldnít have done due diligence on Textor , but perhaps circumstances and objectives have changed.
What we do know is clubs around us are strengthening and weíre still very quiet in the market despite obvious deficiencies.

As long as Vieira gets the players that he wants I don't suppose that he is worried whether they are purchases or loans but I do wonder what he will do if he doesn't get any new additions at all.

There are rumours that Textor has stuck a further £20m into Palace but we don't know what it has been used for

The friction between Parish and Textor looks to have started when Textor was buying Lyon. The transfer of his shares in Palace to his Eagle Football Holdings being the issue. Parish held the deal up although it eventually went through.

As I posted previously, I suspect the risk appetites of Parish and Textor are vastly different. Parish being all about sustainability and keeping control and Textor about speculating to accumulate.

If Harris and Blitzer sell their shares - whoever that may be to, Parish could find himself in a vulnerable position.

Bang on, I think.

The fact that Harris and Blitzer now appear to be interested in Man Utd., hot on the heels of their failed bid for Chelsea, underlines as far as I can see their determination to divest themselves of Palace. I wonder if we're not more openly in play than we know; while newspapers haven't publicly put up the "for sale" signs yet, it is hard to reach any conclusion other than we're on the market. You thus have to think Parish's latest remit includes prospecting for a buyer for the club.

Maybe the fallout between him and Textor is partly based on the latter being neither fish nor fowl. Textor lacks the funds to buy out Harris and Blitzer himself (given his ambitions, you have to think he'd buy Palace if he had the wherewithal to do so) but his share is significant enough that he could make a sale to another party difficult. It's not hard to imagine that Parish's and Textor's interests would almost certainly conflict if we are up for sale, and that tensions between them would run high.

My guess; significant change incoming, probably sooner-ish rather than later.
