Well, I'm chuffed to bits! We got a valuable point against an in-form and very good team. A little jammy, maybe, but so pleased for Steve Tomkins who was in the right place at the right time.

Not a pretty performance but we were without Anderson, Zaha, Richards, Wardy, and gave a run out to our two new midfielders. Great to see McArthur on the bench too.

And despite this we didn't lose to Brighton - what a great result - I'm celebrating!

As for relegation, definitely not this year. There are more than three teams who have bigger problems than we do.

With our limited budget we are performing a flipping miracle!

After 55 years of supporting this club I know that this is the longest period of success we've had, and Palace continue to exceed my expectations.

Patrick Vieira is still a novice in PL tearms but I'm enjoying the football so much more than the Roy Hodgson years.

A very brave post in the face of most of the vitriol in this thread. I have to say I too was pleased with a point against Brighton.

Sure, there are many weaknesses that need addressing, but what's new at Palace? By the way, mine's a Fullers.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Hughes and Ayew are the only two players who seem to care, although I feel Olise and Eze care, but just get zero guidance from PV.I believe PV has a style of management which is far too intellectual for our players (and most UK players)The players have no idea what to do as a result and it shows. I miss the 'Blood and Guts' approach of Pulis and Allardyce. At least I believed we could win every game !!

What about Doucoure ?

To be honest I dont know what to make of that . I was expecting more passion from us and more quality from Brighton . In the end we got niether
We look like a mid table French side at the end of the season with nothing to play for .

We need leaders we need fighters and by god we need some purpose above getting away with another nothing performance that saw the opposition goalkeeper not having to make a save . He got that bored he dropped one for Tomkins to equalise , we certainly didn't look like we would create a chance ourselves .

Was one of those games that makes you wonder why we bother ,but hey we didn't lose ,another point on the board and Im going for a pint .

And we still need a striker

Thanks, POG, Fullers is my next go-to brew.

I'm so sad to see the negativity on these threads. Palace are 12th in the table. That's not too shabby a position at this stage in the season

And there's me thinking this was a Crystal Palace vs Brighton thread . Think you will find world financial news on another thread. I think you will find on this thread and alot more upset fans complaining about the teams performance today .

Just seen some highlights from the match. Brighton just seemed to open us at will, and our forward line is awful ( but nothing we didn't know already).

But, McAllister was very lucky not to get a red for his studs up on Doucoure. That may have helped us, but even 10 man Brighton would have still outplayed us.

That being said, Lokonga should have gone as well with a challenge where he left the ground.

And I agree his post too save I'm not sure Tomkins 1st name is Steve.

Thought we were dire today, offered nothing, no fight, no chasing down. Maximum effort should be the minimum requirement.
Going Brentford next week, looking forward to the day, apart from the football match.

Another point, but apparently, 25% possession, 1 corner and 1 shot on target at home is close to rubbish. Brighton will be disappointed that they didn't win.
Whilst it was amusing that they lost a goal to VAR at 0-0, what we saw today was an advert for the way 2 different teams have gone about strengthening and progressing at this level. Brighton, and it hurts to say, are seeing the shoots of some shrewd scouting and good business.
Whereas with us, despite 10 years at this level, now very complacent and standing still, 2 newly acquired players on the bench, the biggest cheer of the day almost for the return of Macarthur (who I have always rated), but who is not the future, PV again making his statement to the board, selecting 2 goalkeepers on the bench, Luka and Riedewald on the bench.
Not difficult to see how we are the team that has run the shortest distances during games and certain players appear to be in a comfort zone.
Our build up play is so slow, playing out from the back so much, partly because we have a 36 year old goalkeeper who cannot kick and who must have been not a little relieved to see that goal lost to VAR as he did just watch it drift slowly into the net (I expect flak for that because like Wilf and Speroni in the day, he is a player that is, for some reason, so far above criticism, however I was directly above it and he didn't react at all), so many players today who had such poor first touches.
With our self-imposed limited squad depth, surely it would have made sense to perhaps have recalled a loan or two during the window because I am certainly not convinced that any of those young players could have put in less effort today than Olise or Mateta and perhaps in the case of Rak-Sakhyi and Kymani-Gordon, they might know where the goal is !
The summer will again be a time change and uncertainty with a large number of players out of contract, will Mr Textor's money again keep the wolf from the door ?
We may have avoided relegation by then, but how many of the fans I wonder, feel that any real progression or growth is possible at this level without new owners/direction ?
I am not suggesting hurtling the club again into an unsustainable financial position but the time has gone now where it is possible to compete at this level on the cheap.

There are times when your criticism could be a little more nuanced.

You've decided you don't like him, and so you blame everything on him.

Personally, I don't think the squad is good enough. But I agree, the quality that is present does not appear to be in an environment that allows individuals or a team to flourish.

I would love to hear Vieira's genuine, honest assessment of where he's trying to get to, and what he believes the reasons are for the current failure. But that's never going to happen.

Its not that i dont like him . he is useless at all aspects of the role of manager, all our players have deteriorated under Vieira, and the new buy and the loan dont look like what was needed, and i cant believe PV didnt have any input into the new players.

Let's be honest chaps, we got flippin' lucky again today. I'm almost getting used to them being significantly better than us, but somehow we get a pointt or even a win that any neutral would say we didn't deserve. I suppose that is a good habit but it would nice to see us actually play well against them...
