Hi everyone, hope you’re doing well. Not sure how many of you are subscribed to The Athletic, but they’ve done a piece explaining what went down behind the scenes at Crystal Palace and why it ultimately led to Patrick Vieira’s departure, which I’ve detailed in this short video for those interested. As an outsider looking in, I reckon it’s 100% the right decision to part ways with him and gives you guys the best chance of survival, would love to hear what you think!

Becky - he had two rolls one at Copers & y’other at Selhurst trying the pulled pork baps by looks of it

Thank you, Patrick. You deserved better.

In my opinion the only possible justification for the timing of this would be if you had lost the support of the players. I didn't see evidence of that.

The measure of your success as a manager should have been determined at the end of the season, and it should have been done in consideration of the quality of our players, their availability due to injury, and their maturity.

I'm sorry you are no longer our manager, and I wish you every success in the future.

I think as a coach you only get away with carrying that weight if you were a decent former player and you could almost guarantee he will have struggled to command the respect of the players who would doubtless have been thinking "what do you know you fat **** ?" even if they weren't saying it.

He couldn't exactly shout about the running stats could he ?

Yes. Badly.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

The lowest running stats in the division, that’s on the manager and his staff. The players showed as much passion as the manager in his press conferences (unless he’s speaking about the lack of black managers).
Nice man , great player (where’s the aggression gone), poor manager. Not good enough.
Started well, lost his way. Same as at nice I believe.

Excellent players don't always make excellent managers; it is one thing to be excellent in one's chosen field, it is another thing entirely to be able to manage a group of others to be so. Different skill set.
It doesn't help when your own superior is a narcissistic clown, so the odds are stacked against you from the start. Just ask Ian, Tony, Sam, Alan, Frank, and Roy.

I would very much like to hear his side of the story but I fear he had to agree to a NDA as a condition of his pay-off.

I expect it will be a year or so before the full story emerges.

However, if Parish decides to have a press conference on the matter I hope he lets Vieira respond but have a feeling he daren't risk ridicule by doing so.

Parish doesn't do press conferences on such matters preferring to brief his mates in the media instead who will then publish stories coming from an unattributable source

I have very mixed feelings about PV's departure. On the one hand I was relieved and think it was absolutely the right decision. On the other, PV's first season was hugely enjoyable and held the promise of a really exciting period to come. And that was achieved in the most unpromising of circumstances, as the team had been run down to an over-aged group whose apparent aim was no more than to avoid relegation in the most mundane way. I am not sure what went wrong, and why that excellent first season was not just the start, but the high point for PV. A good man, who had a good period in charge of Palace, but short-lived.

Agree with this. It was time but I think management of the playing squad / recruitment over the last few months hasn't been any good either.

Ultimately Gallagher papered over a lot IMO.

Thanks for the fun of the first season, it was great. Such a shame you don't know how to coach an attack to save your life...

Thanks for nothing.
You were so fortunate that Connor Gallagher had a wonder season that made you look half decent. Take Gallagher out of that that team and we would have been relegated last season.
