All those calling for Vieira's head with the run of teams we had to play. You reap what you sow.

So very true, as we sis here now I'd be more confident of avoiding the drop with Pat in charge than Roy

A supporter since 1948 and been through thick and thin but this beats everything.

Unless he brings in a strict RSM and gets the team fit again we are in trouble.

His first team sheet against Leicester on All Fools Day will tell us what to expect. If it includes Luka, Ayew, Ward, Tomkins we will have our answer. He must play our fittest guys and he must come up with a solution to our goal shortage.

Being an optimist I still have hope and wish Roy the very best but he is on a hiding to nothing. I assume he is getting a lavish bonus to keep us up ?

Alas this appointment and Parish's running of the club represent plainly why Crystal Palace FC will remain also-rans for the foreseeable future. Parish has excelled himself here, no doubt believing that Hodgson's appointment was necessary whilst conveniently forgetting his own sorry role in the mismanagement of the club for 10 seasons. Hence those clubs of similar stature to us have all raced away in terms of ground development, scouting, player acquisition and future planning.
Whether Roy succeeds or fails, the can is just being kicked further down the road with no other strategy in place other than treading water until the next "progressive" manager is brought in to do the impossible on a shoestring budget.
Good luck Roy.

I agree. There is no familiarisation time. Roy does a job for a few games and 🤞 we make it. Managerial options at the end of the season are much wider. Conte….Potter….etc???? This is just a fight to the end and I believe if PV was there we would definitely have been knocked out. Look at us since October!!

Let’s all just get behind Roy and the team. And stop moaning about it as it is what it is. At least Roy cares. COYP!!!!

Totally agree. As much as I think this is a crazy decision Roy is here until the end of the season and no one on here is going to change that. Starting with Leicester we need to back Roy and the team and get the job done.

This is the deepest barrel we have ever scraped the bottom of.

That's fair enough but I still believe a tide needed turning and whilst not a massive endorsement of Roy, I failed to see PV achieving that.

We had Roy for quite a while due to underinvestment in players, we have ended up with him for the same reason.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I know the club are trying to establish the club in 1861 so be it 1861 it is Crystal Palace Football Club oldest club in the world with the oldest manager in the world not bad reading for the history books 😀

Despite all the ill informed punditry, Vieira was clueless and had to be sacked. The fact that the board got rid of him in these circumstances tells you all you need to know.

The decision to appoint Roy can be judged on the final day of the season. The fanbase needs to get behind the team and stop bleating.

I agree with this completely. Right now Roy is a better option than Patrick. Not a better option for the future but our safest bet of surviving.

Frankly, won't be watching much til the end of the season. Will obviously dip in and out of it. Not happy at all with the appointment. Pissed off with the whole club. Roy did his job and went gracefully thanks. I truly wish he'd had the grace to turn this down. This smacks of, for the money. Roy will likely lose and respect he had. The team will likely play awful football and grind out maybe one win and a few draws. We will go down.
I'm starting to somewhat look forward to being a young competitive team in the Championship. But I'm not at all happy right now. We're a joke. It's not exactly the first time we've been total dog poo but this was all imminently avoidable. This is poor running of a club. It is not how a hundreds of millions turnover business should be run. A Tesco's Express should not be run like this.

The caveat I attach to my thinking is that Paddy should work alongside Roy as his sidekick and future successor. At least we get to keep it in the family. BTW is Lewington in the frame too?

We need to stop "keeping it in the family" We need to appoint the best manager that will take the job and stop trying to resign ex players

I read the post then looked up to see who posted it knowing full well that it was HOL's very own pet pedant
