Roy's 'First' Interview

So what to make of his first interview back? I was pleasantly surprised at his favourable comments re the 'new' players (those he didn't have in his previous stint with us). He talked a good talk generally as well. Let's hope he and the team now walk the talk.

Liked: Referencing new players being good (hoping he'll be playing them) Talk about energy and giving it everything Disliked: The complete openness that we are in a relegation dogfight. I mean I guess we are.... but we are still 12th. I think I would have preferred a more optimistic narrative about being brought in to freshen things up, new ideas, drive a performance change etc.

I’ll be even more impressed if he is able to do with the players what he is advocating. I’ll give it 3 games, if there is no change to our style of play and our effort during that time then I’ll be firmly in the, ‘no way we should have had him back’ camp.

I too thought Roy sounded relatively upbeat - for him. I particularly liked his assessment of the morale and positivity among the players. Ever the optimist, I'm hoping he's managed to put some spark into them ahead of Saturday. This is a 'must win' for me.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I think he is already spot on with his assessment of the task ahead and is telling everyone how it is, we are clearly in the do do and the only people who can get us out of it are the Players with Roy and Ray guidance. Lets hope they hit the ground running later today as we do really need that win!
