A bit sanctimonious, we’ve played 1 game. Justified if we play like that all the time, but you haven’t earned the right for that post.. yet!

No, Mr Hodgson has played one game with this squad, we all watched what he achieved with his previous.

A much needed and well deserved victory.

Particularly in the first half we played with verve and panache and I was hugely encouraged with our overall display.

The narrative before the game was about so called dour 'Royball' but we played with real attacking intent with Eze back in the fold and the team recording 31 shots.

When Mateta scored my tonsils almost left their moorings as I indulged in raucous merriment and last night my celebrations included several units of intoxicating liquor.
One gentleman of a certain vintage admitted after the match that he almost parted company with his dentures as he yelped with delight after the late winning goal !

Jolly well done to Mr Hodgson, his coaching staff and the players.Let us hope that the Zaha injury is not serious.

It was certainly good to see Ray Lewington back in the dugout. Proper old school coach screaming at the players! So refreshing.
I hope Wilf's injury isn't bad. He remains the centre of the team an has such a massive influence on the other players. I for one never want to see him leave.

Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978

So many shots on and off target. That is where we have failed under PV. It proves that playing football works !

A very encouraging and enterprising display and three highly significant points…..but I’m greedy.
I want to see a better ratio in chance conversion .
I want Eze to demonstrate that he can produce performances like that in 3 in every 5 games rather than 1 in 5.
I want to see how we would cope in the likely absence of Zaha that would leave a massive gap in our attacking threat down the left.
Any potential replacement would be unlikely to be capable of any doing any more than ‘doing a job for the team’ (yes, I know Ayew created the winner yesterday).
I want to see how we deal with more testing opposition than Leicester who were very poor other than for a brief period in the second half.

Leeds are a pacy, aggressive team who play with intensity and are likely to provide a tougher test than Leicester.
I’ll be more reassured if we can come through that game unscathed too.

I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments.
Leeds with their aggression will pose a far greater threat and they will have their vociferous hordes behind them.
Furthermore it is likely that we will be without Zaha.

Leeds haven’t been that great at home, just two wins against Bournemouth & Southampton. I fully expect us to play a very solid defence & midfield and get a draw

Leicester were at their best in recent seasons when they had the likes of Vardy and Tielemans firing on all cylinders. In defence they had Fofana,Evans and Soyuncu.Pereira was an attacking threat and Schmeichel was in goal.

Vardy has only scored 4 goals this season in 32 appearances. His goal return in the previous 3 seasons has been 17,17 and 23.
Leicester are a pale shadow of the team that finished 8th,8th and 5th in the last 3 campaigns.

In recent seasons I've hated it when we've played Leicester because of how well they've pressed our midfield and backline into mistakes, while they tormented our fullbacks. None of that was on display yesterday. I have no idea what has gone on with their spending but the fact they are on an FFP watchlist despite selling Fofana for 85m suggests their success in recent years was built on sand.

I can only imagine Rodgers saw the MotD highlights reel rather than the game when he said they were unlucky!!

Well done Willo with your inimitable way of putting things! I think Zaha's injury did lead to the Leicester goal, as ,released from defending against Zaha, their RB could bomb forward and was much more of an attacking threat.

Great win and well deserved as others have said. What I thought was especially interesting were the tactical tweaks that Roy had made. Getting the ball forward from the back much quicker was immediately evident, playing Eze and Olise very close together which worked so well, and playing the game in Leicester's half - high up the pitch - were all very noticeable.
Afterwards, Roy commented on how good the players that had come in since his departure were. That allowed him to play in a much more fluid way, similar to his first season, compared to his last when he simply did not have the players to do it. Interesting that he was also quick to point out that even in his last season, they still had 38 points after 30 games vis a vis the situation today.
