Just a thought… He’s got loads of experience having made his debut for Everton in 2016, but is still only 24. His contract expires in the summer and Sean Dyche doesn’t seem to fancy him.

His Everton contract is reported as £39k a week, so I’m sure we could fit him into our wage structure. We definitely need at least one more midfielder this summer….

Thoughts…?

In my opinion not really a premier league standard. He is a fringe player for Everton who could well be in the championship come sunday. Tidy sort of player but does not really have a goal scoring threat, is not super quick and on small size so lacking physically. I don't think he will improve our squad and Finn Mooney from under 21 is a very similar style player with more room for improvement.

Tom Davies has not been a regular this season for Everton who have been far from impressive and are a still in a relegation battle.

He breaks up the play but is not a great athlete. He has been accused of occasionally losing the ball with an overly adventurous pass or dwelling on it for too long.
His uncle is Alan Whittle.

I Really think that central midfield is the last position we should be looking at, Doucoure and Eze are nailed on, so we have Schlupp, Hughes, Ahamada, Jairo and possibly Phillips and Ozoh fighting for one spot.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Interesting suggestion.

There is a decent player in there, but has obviously lost his way. Hard to know if he would be able to get it back

Would only buy there if we're getting a guaranteed starter ahead of schlupp and Hughes,

There's numbers there, but lose one of Eze and Doucoure and the remaining quality is very, very questionable. Jairo is probably the closest thing to cover if Doucoure picked up an injury in that holding role and there's nothing anywhere near vague creativity.

It wouldn't be top of the priority list, but losing one of that group and making an upgrade would be attractive at the right price.

I agree, we have quantity. And I don't think of Eze as what you might call a CM. And he's attracting interest

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Davies has rejected a new deal from Everton so is a 'free'. I would be surprised if we took him as he's wanting regular first team football and with Doucoure, Lerma, Hughes, Eze and even Schlupp IMHO ahead of him (and probably Ahamada once he's bedded in), he's unlikely to get it here. In any event, I don't rate him that highly.

i think Davies is one of those players who breaks in the Prem in his early 20's looks great for a while, then gets the odd injury and/or a big contract and just doesn't seem to push on.

Maitland-Niles is similar at Arsenal.

Think they are both good players put neither has really performed for a couple of seasons now.

I can see a promoted side taking a gamble e.g. Sheff Utd, but don't think it's worth it at Palace.

Would be similar to the McCarthy signing a few years ago. Was never going to be a regular and always had injury issues.

I would avoid

Not one for Palace in my view. Probably a good player in the Championship, but recently can't hold down a place in a team well below us in the Premier League. Not good enough unless a squad player instead of, say, Riedewald.

I’m pretty sure he’s resigned with Everton so this one is a solid “no” all round.
