Both Jordan & other two geezers at TalkSport muting a possibility & if so would he be a good fit ? A progressive manager ! He would develop & build confidence ! He knows who to recruit ! Is this what Parish was talking about in his speech about - “exciting things” Yet : What would be a negative ? Would we be better keep Woy & Way ? Would he be given finances ?

I think what Jordan said was right. De Zerbi did benefit a lot from Potter (his style of play and players) that helped him do so well with Brighton. Potter at Chelsea was always going to be a disaster due to expectations and him not dealing with huge superstars. Palace's next aim is probably to become an established top 10 side i.e. finish top 10 every season which is something that is more than do able if Palace buy a new RB, midfielder, winger to replace Zaha and striker who gets over 13 goals a season minimum. Potter can achieve top 10 every season if the right players are bought in.

Managers at Palace don’t appear to have a huge influence on the purchase of players and I’m pretty sure Potter had little to do with who they bought at Brighton. Brighton do have a very good back room team that identifies foreign gems for very little money. I’d suggest if we buy anyone who was at Brighton it’s their back room team and not Potter.

I actually disliked him at Brighton, because I liked him, if that makes sense, the weed are just not allowed to have what seemed like a decent bloke at the helm

In general there is a great deal of speculation in pre-season with the 'Rumour Mill' whirring with some velocity. In some instances some of the reports are 'Off beam' but they clearly act as a catalyst for lively and protracted debate ! Edited by Willo (31 May 2023 11.18am)

Everything considered, his failure at Chelsea should have been a dream come true for most Palace fans however I was slightly more annoyed by the obvious hospital pass that entire move seemed to be. De Zerbi’s success really bothered me too lol. He did infuriatingly well with BHA however there do seem to be many pitfalls to his approach. I would imagine the optimist will see him as the BHA Potter who’ll bring the style of play and performances most of us want to see however many might fear the Chelsea Potter and that potential catastrophe awaiting. I’m a bit torn. It seems very good on paper however I fear if it did go wrong, as a number of recent managerial experiments have, it could go very wrong and the ol’ de ja vu kicks in.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

There is already lively discussion on the 'Hodgson to stay' thread Seems pretty evenly balanced for and against.

In his three full seasons at Brighton, the club finished 15th, 16th and 9th and only his final full season did they finish above us in the PL. Edited by Willo (31 May 2023 11.30am)
