Thoughts from Palace fans as to pursuing transfer of Conor Coady who is returning to Wolves after Everton FC reject £4.5m offer of permanent switch: [Link]

Yes, there were issues in Everton defence dept. but also right across the whole squad and unfair to tarnish one player whom we all know has terrific form on the day. There is also the factor of operating under a different manager and team ethic....and at £4.5m, surely a steal.

Cheap but too old. We’re just not buying that age now. I agree with that strategy.Only considering Lerma (2 cos he’s free.

The die-hard Liverpool supporter who went on loan to Everton !

He hardly played under Sean Dyche. Coady performs better in a back three formation and Everton under Dyche mainly played with a back four.
I am told that he joined Wolves as a midfielder but Espirito Santo converted him to a centre-half in a three-man defence.
A leader and a very good reader of the game but pace is not one of his assets.

More used to playing in a back 5 which we don't play.

A decent player if Guehi is sold.

Thats a terrible downgrade, plus he can't play in a back 4

Worth thinking about how much experience is leaving the club this summer:

McArthur, Luka, Zaha - possibles on Ward, Clyne, Tomkins. We don't want a bunch of 22 year olds with no guidance - look at Southampton and Chelsea.

Bringing in a 30 year old England international as a squad CB for <£5m is far from a silly move.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

If it is him or Tomkins as a backup it is no contest, He has a higher pedigree with several England caps, less injury-prone, is three years younger and earns a third as much if Sportrac is to be believed

Especially is Geuhi is sold? Would be a big mistake if he was
