He's possibly better than Clyne or Ward, in that he would be quicker but he hasn't exactly set the world alight. Ward's done well so even that's debatable. Don't know what saints fans were saying but he didn't do much to save them.

I was referring to us turning our noses up at mediocrity good only for the newly promoted.

Personally, I reckon Maitland Miles might be alright. It's the might bit that made me think newly promoted, Forest or Championship. If he was a consistent Premier League performer I don't suppose he would have been let go that easily. If we're not going to buy anyone perhaps we should try and loan Nelson - who it looks like Arsenal will retain.
