Probably on way and fingers crossed for a good replacement!

He wasn't on the bench because he injured his knee at the weekend.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I don’t believe we will ever know now whether JPM would have made a good striker for Palace. Roy hated him from the start and treated him like Sorloth and some of the loanees brought in to help the attack. He has used him for only 271 minutes, never giving him a run of games and in that time JPM has scored 2 goals, a rate better than his team mates. Vieira used him more but never gave him a run like Edouard and Ayew. He scored at a rate of a goal every 2 matches in the Bundesliga and so its no surprise that we signed him when Mainz ran out of money and now two giants of German football, Dortmund and RB Leipzig want to sign him. Good luck JPM Boom Boom.

We are now looking at Che Adams, an older player whose minutes per goal record in the EPL is inferior to JPM (265/319 over 3 seasons). If he or whoever we sign gets a run in the side and the service from Eze and Olise denied to JPM maybe we can get the goals required to push up the table. But don’t hold your breath!

When he first arrived i thought he looked like a goal scorer. He had that 1 chance in a Brighton away game he converted and i was always impressed with his ability to get his chances on target for the most part. However, his link up play was never that great especially given his physicality and you always felt he needed another player a long side him which you are not always going to get in modern football.

Mateta and Édouard could make a decent old fashioned front two.

I miss strike forces.

if you contrast Mateta to the likes of Loftus-Cheek or Gallagher.....i got the feeling that Mateta always got an unlucky break , in the final third.

Napoleon always loved & cherished those Generals that were 'lucky'.

Lets go and find somebody new to fill that shirt.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Truth is, Benteke probably would've buried that headed chance Eduoard had. He took a lot of the blame for what was actually just poor chance creation. He'd thrive with Olise whipping balls in.

Anyway, this isn't about Benteke. But anyone thinking Mateta is in the same league is bonkers. In my opinion.

Were you at the Edinburgh fringe, the only thing Benteke buried was his head

Because he’s such an integral part of the team and has scored so many goals in his many appearances?
