Did he? I thought Quincy Jones played a huge role in his career. I once saw a documentary about song writers I had never heard of these people but they were responsible for some massive hits.

Some of them refused to work with some of the biggest artists at the time e.g. Jackson and Madonna as these stars demanded a share of the song writing credit.

Of course it can be difficult to say when someone should get credit on a song there is no doubt that Jackson was an incredible performer and he put a unique spin on the songs whether that always justified the writing credit I don't know. I guess if you are a struggling writer and MJ wants to record your song you might share credit?

you are correct.

Regarding Madonna.....it was genius how somebody with so little talent could ever rise to the top. Proof positive of the unfairness of the World. Seems to be a raging man-hater too....from some of her comments ?

Her modus operandi appears to be to hire in the musical talent and then claim all the glory.

Robin Williams.

We all know how it ended, and not everyone's cup of tea, but brilliant observational humour (albeit insanely delivered) and some superb acting performances. RIP.

Agreed, loved the bloke!! Incredible how convincing he was playing sinister characters as well in films like Insomnia and one hour photo

And what legend for giving us Mrs Doubtfire

Ayrton Senna was a genius driver in a F1 car, but he took too many crazy chances believing that God protected him. It was almost inevitable that he would die at the wheel of a race car.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Some might say a reckless maniac who had no regard for his or his rivals safety, well when I say ‘some’ I mean Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost

Although Salieri was a resident at a Vienna lunatic asylum, he sadly does not get invited onto this thread.

JMW Turner maybe not mad depending on your definition but certainly a genius

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

anybody who ties himself to the top of a mast, on a ship in a storm, gets to qualify for the laughing-academy.

other Formula One drivers. Michael Schumacher , Nikki Lauda, James Hunt.....surely all got a little bit of a death-wish ? whether or not they are clever ? As an automotive engineer, Nikki gets my vote for the best brain.

C'mon Eagles, any female Mad-Genius to tell us about ?

Kate Bush? She always seemed a bit strange, but such a great different type of music even for that era

Maybe someone who isn't over 80? But she did bake the cake on the cover of the Rolling Stones' Let it Bleed so she'd need to be getting on.
