Seems to be a genuine crisis taking hold.

[Link]

Seen a claim from friends in the Met that out of the standard 15 Armed Response Units that are meant to be on the streets, last night there were 2.

And the same might be true tonight. Also how they are begging Instructors to take over but they are proving reluctant.

The Met is not a happy place at the moment.

Hardly surprising....as usual the progressives destroy every institution they touch.

Any guy entering the modern Police force needs their head examining. Carrying a gun with our media and governmental culture is playing roulette with your life.

No one will bat for you if you shoot someone from the 'protected classes'.

I think somebody needs to explain to me why the policeman is being charged with murder which implies a predetermined plan to shoot the guy. Surely manslaughter is the appropriate charge. Any legal bods out there who can explain for me?

Often the charge starts as murder and is soon re-categorised as manslaughter, the legal mob earn more money that way, yep, call me cynical.

The explanation maybe that BLM probably demanded a prosecution or there will be trouble!
The bits I read of the case are that the guy was in a car allegedly involved in a firearm incident the night before. Possibly was asked to get out of the car and made a movement that may have looked suspicious. The cop may be guilty or just doing his job but another trial by media. The army are going to step in. Now they are trained killers so might well be a little trigger happy.

I agree. Do I recall that the family of the deceased demanded and were successful in seeing the body cam footage. If true, then there must be some doubt that the policeman acted correctly if there is now to be a court case.

If the decision on a charge was made post the family seeing the body cam film then that’s just a bit strange. Surely his CO should have made the decision on if there was wrongdoing. The issue i see is two ply. Firstly is this setting a precedent for who determines the outcome of plod using there gun and secondly every terrorist, armed robber and gun rotting drug dealer are going to be treating our streets like the Wild West. This should have been a closed news item until the outcome of the court case.

I have seen an opinion (and strictly that) that the issue might be more about senior figures not having the guts to sign it off as a legitimate shooting because of fears about the impact it might have on their careers. That by just going with a murder charge, and putting the onus on a jury to clear the officer (and British courts actually have a pretty strong record on acquitting cops) then nobodies career gets damaged.

A s*** state of affairs but in this day and age, more than possible.

Despite the Home Secretary and the officers withdrawal, we have a system of law and the establishment of the truth is paramount.

I've seen a couple of videos of gun deaths that were effectively 'murder' by cop.....more often than not it's incompetence in stressful situations rather than deliberate....A situation where the cop wasn't calm enough under pressure to be trusted with a firearm.

I haven't seen what happened here.....I don't know it might be one of those cases but I suspect that it's more likely it wasn't clear cut.

In fifty fifty edge cases they have to find for the Police otherwise you won't have any armed officers.

The army will also have issues being used as Police if they are judged the same way......because outside of the military Police they aren't Police.

I must admit the new Met Commissionairer has said some sensible things on this and looks like someone who is actually trying to Police London rather than please politicians.

I would like to see a "Shoot to Kill" policy for Cyclists on pavements. Actually, any cyclist would be fair game
