It all feels so familiar. Goals have dried up. We look passive.

Man U to beat us convincingly. 4-0.

Frankly and at the risk of being shot, I cannot agree that we're safe from a relegation tussle. One or more of the bottom 3 may find some form and with the thinness of our squad.....

I wonder if Roy needs this at his age.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

None of us do but at least he’s getting paid for it

Yes, I can't understand the optimism that prevails in this regard, based on two unconvincing wins against very poor sides. The rest of our games, and the goals conceded against Wolves,
have starkly exposed our limitations as a team and a squad. Now we seem to have a hamstring injury epidemic on our hands.

Tactically Hodgson is nothing if not predictable, so I am expecting a backs to the wall park the bus effort aiming to negate United's attacking threat. That said, United will make the breakthrough and Palace won't respond, fearful of the counter attack and being under instruction to keep the goals against tally to a minimum. Nevertheless, another couple of United goals will follow aided by Palace's passivity and inability to defend a set piece, and on 85 minutes Roy will look at Ray, hoping for some inspiration, and Ray will just shrug his shoulders as if to say, "What are we doing here?" Roy will then make a double substitution.
The fullbacks will be targeted.

Your reference to 2 very poor sides is indication of 2 down 1 to go.

Its got 1-0 Palace written all over it, MU 27 shots, CP 1, probably a header from our only corner.

It is absurd to blame Roy for our squad limitations.

We did not buy a striker in the summer once again, and we also signed a player who has a long term injury.
If Edouard is injured, that leaves us with few options up front.

It's hard to see us getting anything other than nil on Saturday, but I'm sure we will play better than we did on Tuesday.

A draw would be a great result.

I will personally be cracking open the bubbles if we get a draw with our current losses to injury.

And I agree. They should (key word) find us a more difficult nut to crack than the team they faced on Tuesday.

It is absurd, but some do it anyway. The present situation with injuries was always a possibility, it’s a problem for all clubs, and only a strong all round squad can minimise its effects. In our case we just don’t have an all round strong squad, in so many words Hodgson himself was saying that before the window closed, admitting to needing more in.This might not be his opinion , but I,ll own it as mine ,and that is the problem was in many ways compounded by giving contracts to two or three players that are no longer contributing anywhere near enough.

While I agree that you can't blame Roy for the squad limitations he does have a habit of almost conceding defeat before a ball is kicked. He seems to have basically told us we are likely to lose on Saturday, same as he basically said we're not going to be able to compete in the league cup before kick-off. Hardly inspiring stuff for the squad players looking to earn their stripes. I'd love to know what the plan will be for Saturday and whether it extends beyond 'contain United'. If Burnley can push them all the way there's no reason we can't, but we won't. To be honest, even if the squad was fully fit I doubt we'd push United as we saw under Roy last season and in his previous tenure he can pay too much respect to the big six, at least that's my view of it.

Hodgson can see what is in front of him, as can any one that has seen Palace perform without at least thirteen of their best fifteen. He clearly said before the Plymouth game this is the chance for second string players to impress, that’s encouragement enough surely for players on money they almost certainly will not earn elsewhere. Yet the players concerned failed miserably. United was a different problem for him in many ways. Let’s face it most of their second string would be in our first string, and beating them with our limited resources wasn’t ever more than an outside chance. Quiet honestly that leaves him with little he could do other than what he did, at Plymouth, and again with less effect at United, which was an attempt to save face by bringing on some of his best players, that he really needs to keep fit. If all he has is to tell them how good they are when they prove he is lying , is all he has as a coach, I can see him saying goodby at Christmas.
It’s not beyond Palace to put in a top performance this weekend, because there is enough of the best fifteen to do so. But anymore injuries and no amount of bulls*** from Hodgson will help.
