I used to tell my staff if they had any doubt about claiming expenses talk to me or the department that handles them before you put your claim in. He obviously new better.

Apparently my common-sense approach isn't used in Parliament either where MPs have the attitude I was in doubt so thought I'd better claim it.

Citi is a good company to work for they pay well and look after their staff but they have always been hot on this stuff my old boss was sacked for fiddling his expenses stupid boy.

I would go away for a week abroad and when I did my expenses I was always about £20 light. I could either fiddle them to get the money I knew I was due but couldn't prove or wipe my mouth. I chose the later £20 for a week in New York seemed like a bargain to me.

When something is known it cannot be unknown. If behaviour is uncovered that is a clear breach of policy it will have to be investigated or the person in the know puts themselves in jeopardy

This guy was an Analyst in financial crime. Probably his boss also worked in financial crime.

I remember many years ago I got my first break into a sales career because the guy in the position got fired for fiddling his expenses, he was claiming an allowance for off street parking at his house when in reality he was parked on the street like everyone else in that road, it only came to light when he left his briefcase on the back seat one evening & someone smashed his rear window to steal it, the briefcase had a presentation for a major key account in it (printed version, long before internet) so inevitably soon afterwards, when he couldn't make the presentation, questions began being asked by the company as to why the car wasn't in the off street parking garage that he was claiming for.

One of those things that he probably thought he would claim for & no one will ever find out - the daft thing was that the off street parking allowance that the company allowed to claim was an absolute pittance so in the end he lost his good job with a very reputable company for claiming a few extra pennies a month.
