They've just scored another with the direct long ball tactic.
It obviously helps if you have pace up front which we don't.

There were a few threads earlier this week regarding ‘Longball’ in the modern game.

I’m no tactical genius but anyone who says it won’t work in the modern game… take a look at Liverpools opener ironically against Brentford today. Genius finish too.

I strongly disagree with that. Roy is not a greedy man and doesn't need the money. If we were talking about Sam Alardyce I'd tend to agree but Roy wasn't staying for the money.
I'd imagine the biggest motivator was pride and an unshakable self belief that he could turn things around once the key players returned from injury. Maybe he was right. We'll never know.
I dont imagine we'l see Roy Hodgson in a dugout again which is a little sad but all things must come to an end.

you know this how?

Has there been any update on Roy? I haven't seen anything other than the new bloke is supposedly starting on Tuesday? What's happening to Ray and Paddy?

Roy may be able to attend the game in some capacity and be allowed to bow out with grace and dignity as befitting of his status in the game and service to the club.

OG can then officially take over on Tuesday.

Paddy I would love to return to the U21 but suspect it will neither be offered nor accepted.

Mr Hodgson is a mensch, and an urbane and estimable gentleman.
A gentleman of erudition and wisdom who has served our club with such honour and distinction, a club that means so much to him.He really did work wonders.
He will always have a special place in our club's history.

I wish him all the very, very best for the future, good health and happiness and I hope that our paths will cross at Selhurst Park.

Mr Hodgson is a true gentleman of football and his contribution to our club was often maligned. I fully understand that his old school methods were no longer suited to the modern game, and he surely recognised his days as our manager were numbered.

That he has been allowed to bow out with dignity intact is a credit to the communications folk at Selhurst.

Roy, wishing you health and happiness in a long retirement. Thanks a bunch.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Strange timing of the announcement, hours before a 6 pointer. One would hope that within the club players and staff had been informed at an earlier stage.
