Agreed. Cooper and Potter are mid to bottom table managers who do they think will offer a better job?

I think a key aspect for our longer term sustainability and success will be better utilisation of our academy and promising young players who we have brought into the Club. For this to truly bear fruit you need a manager who is not only able the have the courage to give them opportunities, but also able to nurture tans get the best out of them. For this reason I think Cooper has something to offer. Also he strikes me as a decent man. Which is why I don’t see him considering a job when the position is already held by another Man. Especially someone so respected in the game.

Any manager who takes over is immediately under pressure to deliver results, so who are they going to play experienced or inexperienced players at Premier level. If you’re mid table in the Championship you can play youth to get experience, not in the Premier in the last third of the season, when points are vital. They will still have the same problem as Roy, 4 key players injured, 3 of them constantly injured, so you can’t build a team method of play as always different personnel. Keeping Roy until the summer is the favourite option.

That all sounds wonderful, but there is a major problem with your theory. I think a lot are slipping into that anyone but Roy state of mind, myself included. I’m not sure about Cooper, but is there anyone out there better that would want the job? I really don’t think there is

In which case Parish is either looking for a caretaker manager for the rest of the season or he's sticking with Hodgson.

If it's the latter, what's stopping him from publicly saying so ?

I take your point Painter. But if we just look slightly longer term (something that the club hasn’t done very well) and consider that IF as a consequence of adopting an approach to give youth more opportunities- we do get relegated there are reasons to be optimistic about coming straight back up - with the continuity of the same manager (Cooper is proven at Championship level) and those young players having gained game time and experience in the process. Obviously I’d HATE us to go down- but we only have to look at Leicester, Southampton and Leeds for some comfort. They have all sold assets to generate cash but have kept the nucleus of their squads, as a result they all look set to bounce straight back up.

I'm not really seeing the logic in hiring a man who recently got sacked for nearly getting Forest relegated. Different players involved of course, but hardly encouraging.

He might be a good man for the Championship, but that is not what is needed right now.
