The og poster is overreacting.
Let's face it, when Roy was negotiating with Parish behind Vieira's back to assume the helm he knew exactly what he was taking on and the board he would be working with.
I should think that he has regular check ups and therefore knew his state of physical and mental health. Nevertheless, this is a very stressful job, particularly when results go against you and you find yourself near the drop.
My personal opinion is that Roy should never have taken this season on, and now he is in the position to listen to that voice telling him to call it a day.

I realise that what you’ve written is very emotional. But there are different things running here.

Parish is if nothing else a pragmatist and if you’ve been following the gossip, has been searching for a replacement for Roy for the last couple of weeks. We’ve all seen before how the board don’t stand for poor results and remove an inappropriate manager, giving the replacement good time to make a difference. As exactly happened this time last year with Patrick Vieira.

Personally, I disagreed with that decision as we were just about to move into a run of games that I’m sure Vieira would have done well in, having just lost to Liverpool, Man City, and Chelsea. But that is how our board works.

The unfortunate timing of Roy becoming ill today, which from some reports, was distressing to all who were there, is awful. I’m fairly certain that nobody wishes Roy any ill will and we are all hoping that he recovers soon. One post earlier mentioned that Steve Parish accompanied Roy to the hospital.

From reading a lot of articles today, Oliver Glasner had already been to Selhurst Park and signed a two year contract. Which I for one applaud, I am excited about the appointment of someone who could take us again in a new direction.

This is nothing to do with the treatment of Roy Hodgson, I sincerely hope he is ok and fully recovers. He has done an amazing job for Palace and had a career that many would envy. I just think the two things happening on the same day makes everything really awkward.

It seems that Parish was ready to announce the sad departure of our friend Roy and an exciting arrival, but events have overtaken them. I now don’t expect any announcement at least until after the Everton match.

Every manager who has ever been sacked - pretty much all managers - has had to suffer hatred and vitriolic abuse from some fans at the end. It goes with the territory. It’s why they are so well paid. Responsibility in any job is tough. That Roy chose to put himself in that position at his age is up to him. He should know the score more than anyone. Of course I wish him well and hopefully he’ll put his feet up now. It’s a business like any other. We move on.

Is your personal attack on ‘Roy-out’ people not as simplistic and arrogant as you are suggesting of them?

I’m not an Ultra, I often have an issue or two with them when they think they are above other fans and bring negative attention, sometimes embarrassing. However, the banners were considered and well thought-out.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been sick of hearing all day from moronic no-nothing TalkSport Reporter’s, falsely saying the banners were all ‘Roy-out’ when they were much more aimed at the Board but it’s sad for me to come on here with in-the-know Palace fans turning on themselves.

I guess it’s just a more exciting story that we bullied an old man into hospital but Roy wasn’t standing there looking at an image of his head on a stick with ‘ROY GET OUT’, it was just about the poor running of the Club.

I don’t think any Fan should take any blame, Roy out or Roy in. The Board have allowed a 76 year old Man get to the point where he has been hospitalised so that now they can’t even make a new Manager announcement because they’ve been so indecisive, they couldn’t manage to do this before nearly killing an old man. This is on them.

I don’t agree at all with your statement that either the Ultras or non-ultra Roy-out fans like myself can’t string a sentence together.

Totally with this. It’s as though the new poster is a Weed fan!
