With Burnley seemingly doomed think Sander Berge could be a good option as a strong defensive midfielder who can get attacks going, particularly if there is some outgoing transfer activity in that area such as Doucoure. Looks too good for the Championship. Good upgrade to the likes of Hughes.

Assuming Burnley go down, it will meat that Berge will have played for two relegated PL teams (the other being Sheff Utd). We don't want to be the third such team, surely?

Ayew had a similar record and people were worried when we signed him.

I'm sure Berge made his Sheff Utd debut against us and was very highly rated but although I used to like him I don't think his done much this season to warrant us getting him. He was okish last week v us.

Hadn't Scott Dann played for two relegated teams before joining us?

I believe he was relegated at Birmingham and Blackburn but I am not entirely sure if this was the actualite.

I have a feeling that one of our estwhile players Hermann Hreidarsson was relegated from the top division with 3 clubs.

With Doucoure, Lerma and Wharton fitting into three spots, I'd be surprised if we're spending that level of money on a 4th option - especially with the defence looking wobbly. It'd be like the Henderson transfer take 2.

Yes I’ve never seen this obsession from some every year of signing relegated players, especially teams as poor as Burnley, especially this fella, is he that good? always looks a bit cumbersome to me.
Besides we’ve got the Douc back from injury next season which will be like a new signing in that position now
