My only surprise is that people seem surprised by the result and performance.

I take no pleasure in keeping to say this, but we canít keep a clean sheet and struggle to score.

This means 1-1 is about the best we can hope for at present.
The side we fielded tonight is a bottom 5 team.
Itís fine talking about weíll be fine when the injured players are back , but when is this going to be?
Meanwhile thereís the possibility of picking up more injuries along the way.
Iím not being negative, just realistic.
It may well get worse before it gets better with forthcoming games v Man C and Liverpool.
At the moment we have to hope the teams below us donít put together a run of good results.
We need to find another 5 or 6 points from somewhere.

I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments.

Tonight's result is NO surprise to me one jot.
Squad short on depth, goalscorers at a premium.
Optimism low in terms of upcoming fixtures.
GRIM.

Tonight just exposed our entire identity and existence unfortunately, weíre a club lacking any coherent plan and/or ability to spend.

Weíve once again had to change things dramatically as we plummeted south with an underfunded and very thin squad. With a few injuries weíre reduced to a mid table championship side just now without Wilf to carry us. No new manager bounce, a sincere lack of goals and points. I can barely remember what a Palace win feels like let alone any enjoyment and positivity amongst the fan base.

If weíre lucky enough to survive this season, and it will just be luck, something dramatic will have to happen in the summer. Iím not massively hopeful of our survival. Equally not quite resigned to relegation yet but itís a sincere possibility. Chickens roosting I fear. Over a decade in the PL and nothing but an FA Cup final some years ago to show for it. An improved ground and European football? Perhaps our summer transfer budget was spent on Crack C0caine?

Thatís the best I can muster for a hysterical whine atm

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Unfortunately we just do not have a high enough quality squad. The game tonight showed that we are being much more proactive in moving forward . Our issue is we have no threat from Ayew and Mateta to take advantage and as much as we all love what Eze does he is a major culprit in our attacks breaking down due to poor passing.
We will lose plenty more games before the season is over but as long as we keep progressing we survive. What comes next must be an influx of better quality players.COYP.

If weíre still playing like this at the end of September Iíd be worried.

A summer of recruitment, a proper pre-season and players back and we are a different side.

Freedman got Muniz and Wharton - both excellent signings. I trust him to pull out a decent signing or two.

It is what it is at the minute. But thereís shoots there and Iíd trust Glasner to use new players.

I have heard some who have opined that Glasner will not be on the managerial 'Throne' for an extended period of time and believe that Cooper would have been a better option.

Glasner has only been in charge for 5 games and the squad is NOT strong enough!

To be fair Glasner has exactly the same problem as Roy had ... the squad is too thin (albeit with the two extra players bought in January) and there are too many injuries! ANY manager would have to be a magician to work wonders with that.

It was rather bleak from the start and the longer the match goes on, the lack of attacking talent is so obvious. Eze has great skill, and Mateta is doing a lot better (and is also a really good asset defending corners) but that is it!. Ayew made no real contribution and the midfield can't release killer passes. We have no attacking width, so its all down the middle and bodies just get in the way. Ozoh never going to be a match up against Semenyo (coaching / substitution decision) and it cost us the game. A more experienced player would have pulled him back and got the yellow card. Don't blame the youngster, it was a tactical mistake from the coaching staff.

Big makeover required in the summer!

Just back from the game and decided to post before reading other comments so I am not influenced. In short we were dreadful, and anyone who thinks we are safe from relegation needs a wake-up call.

We donít yet have the players to play Glasnerís preferred style, especially with so many injuries. The injury to Richards meant Lerma was moved to centre back and Hughes replaced him as defensive midfielder. Glasnerís style, in my understanding, uses pace and athleticism to compensate for lesser technical skills than our opponents. Although Hughes did okay, athletic and pacy are not words which apply to him. He began to get found out for physicality and pace as the game wore on. Sadly the same is true of Ayew and Mateta (though perhaps less important for the striker role). Ayew has gone so far off the boil under Glasner Ė he offered absolutely nothing this evening and is back to the player of 2 or 3 years ago when most of us couldnít understand why he continued to occupy a place in the team.

The wing-backs are obviously crucial to the system, and I though Munoz looked knackered, and Mitchell (who I rate higher than many on this site) posed no attacking threat whatsoever, and both constantly checked back and played a simple square or backward pass rather than running for the byline and trying to cross. That was symptomatic of our attacking Ė however good a position we got ourselves into, we generally kept passing until the chance was gone. We were shockingly lacking in incisiveness in attacking positions.

At half-time my daughter asked me what I thought was going to happen. I told her I though Bournemouthís substitutes would make the difference for them. I am no football sage, but it always felt likely that with Bournemouth able to send on Semenyo and Kluivert, they were going to find the energy and ability to see us off eventually. Our substitutes included bringing Ozoh on to play out of position at centre-back, the increasingly lumbering-looking Schlupp for the semi-conscious Ayew, and Edouard for Wharton (who was probably our best player but began to miss simple passes as he got tired).

The positives ? Well Henderson, Andersen, Ward and Lerma also put in respectable performances, as did Mateta in the first half, but his lack of pace was more and more obvious as the game wore on. Ebs was off his game, but still looked more likely than anyone else to create a goal. But itís difficult to be very positive when you canít see where many more points are coming from. We are going to need Luton to be pretty crap in order not to get into real trouble in my view, unless we can get a couple of key players back very soon. I hate this season !

3-4-3 is a stupid system that negates the strengths of our best player - Eze.

It also requires top, top wing backs - of which we don't have. Munoz looks decent enough...

It's not much more complicated than that for me.
