Hardly the same as knee deep at the coal face. If we survive, this forced change may turn out to be a blessing given the insight he will receive and getting the crud out the way.

And I still think one major change he will introduce will be an increase in sport psychology work. I don't think he is happy with players going in to seek the pragmatic draw. Apparently that can result in conceding a lot of late goals.

Yeah - hence why he didn't want to take the job mid-season, but it gave him insight into what he could expect.

But you stick the injured players back in and, from a first 11 perspective, are we only crying out for a LWB?

Yes, although the back line has (current 1st XI squad) only Imray coming through; and recent events showed that Tomkins needs to be replaced.

Could Devenny chase Mitchell for that LWB place, or will he be the natural successor to Riedewald?

As I posted before, I can see why he would have preferred to take the job this summer rather than towards the end of what has been a difficult season at Palace.

Results wise I would say I'm disappointed so far although in mitigation he hasn't taken over in ideal circumstances. Performance wise I see an improvement that hasn't been translated into points.

At the moment, just my opinion, but to survive in the Premier League this season is paramount - even finishing 17th if that's what it is.

Then Glasner has the summer and a pre season to start to do the job properly.

100% correct, i think he will be a class manager, his biggest problem is surviving this season, then hopefully he can bring in or sell on, whatever players he wants

I don't think there's enough running power, energy and drive in the squad.
For example we're crying out for a left sided forward of power and pace to threaten the opposition.
We lack athleticism in midfield missing a player(s) that can cover every blade of grass over 90 plus minutes.
We can't sustain intensity over whole games which Glasner's current formation requires.
Glasner's system of 2 in central midfield places huge demands on the central midfielders.
Of course if the system is tweaked to something like 4231, the situation changes, but we will have to see.

Maybe not, but its not like we need a complete overhaul. Assuming we don't lose any/many.

Fast forward a few months and we'll be bringing Douroure/Lerma on for fresh legs. That a serious upgrade to what Ozoh.

Yep we need to let a few go and bring in some better squad players. But if we keep the main guys, the first team wont change a huge amount.

Although Glasner plays mostly 3-4-2-1 he has also played 3-1-4-2 and 3-4-1-2 so a few variations i think we can expect if:
1. We Stay up, and
2. We sell a couple of the big boys, and,
3. get rid of Jairo, Schlupp, Hughes, Tomkins, Clyne and Ferguson, on about 200k a week between them, all out of contract.

The more I hear Glasner speak the more I like him. He's always looking at how we can win a game. He doesn't big-up the opposition - yes he acknowledges their strengths but is always looking for (and finding) their weaknesses.

With him, it's about how we play our game and not about how we stop the opposition playing theirs.

I am also impressed at how he seems to be getting more out of our squad than seemed to be there. Who would have thought of playing a back 3 of Clyne, Andersen and Lerma against Liverpool?

And at last we have a manager who trusts and uses his subs.

I have a good feeling about the future with Glasball.

He is a breath of fresh air, positive attitude and praises our players for a change. What I have seen and heard so far is a massive upgrade on RH.

Totally agree and have no doubt that had Roy still been in charge,we would have been beaten before we had stepped onto the pitch yesterday.

Massive result for him, up to yesterday his only win was Burnley. I can’t remember a more important win for the club since…..?

Every single season the bed wetters come out. The first page of this thread, same old people. It is tiresome.

I'v been an a*se at times, calling out fellow posters. But always glass half full, and always confident of survival. In print, every year.

Even in seasons when we have no chance of relegation, same old lily livers and nonsense. Straight out of the Italian Book of War Heroes.

You know you are. Same every season. Take yourselves to one side, and give yourselves a good talking to.

And by the way, Lanzo Ad. My apologies again. You have been right all along about Ebs.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..
