He reportedly turned down Chelsea in favour of signing for us in January. It was said that Chelsea wanted to loan him out (probably abroad or Championship team) but we promised him an immediate starting place in a Premier League team!

If a new rule hits the Premier that shareholders can gift money to clubs without it affecting FFP (under discussion within the Man City issue) then Wharton'v value could be silly. 3-400 million maybe.
