Given Eze’s best position is probably the same position as Kamada and Smith Rowe, the concern has to be that we are considering moving Eze on. A bit tenuous maybe but it adds up. We have a Miss Marple in our midst!

The way that OG sets up his teams, I can easily see Eze and Smith-Rowe in the same starting XI. Last season, Olise didn't really play as an out and out winger, he drifted in field alot, and it was the wing backs that provided width. Mateta would be the lone centre forward. Mitchell's place as LWB could be under threat if Sessegnon is signed.

a fully fit smith-rowe would probably be a talisman for us, he was brilliant before his injury & can play anywhere across the line. at 23 years old could have great re-sale potential & i know we cant replace olise like for like, but he would go a long way to filling that void.

I think we need someone else in as another starting quality inside forward. It just depends whether Smith-Rowe's EPL experience and past performances outweigh his price and injury concerns

Would really like to see Smith-Rowe at Palace. Injury record is a slight concern and it is a lot of money for us but when fit he is a player who usually turns up and is capable of assisting and scoring. Remember he was in the England squad a couple of seasons ago.

The Arse have supposedly also not matched our valuation of Guehi but if we want Smith Rowe could possibly negotiate some sort of balancing transfer if all parties agree.

I'm not sure Arsenal will still be after Guehi now they are signing Califiori from Bologna. I know he can play left back but they have Timber to return in that position. As for another poster's fears that Eze could go to spuds on last day of the window. NO CHANCE!! Parish would never allow it unless it was already done in principle and was reliant on us getting replacement in first.

Sounds like a perfect place for a loan with option to buy at 35m, that would be my choice, and Sarr for 15/18m a decent attacking forward.

I may be in a minority of one but I am not so keen on Smith-Rowe. Maybe its too easy to generalise, but history tells us that players who join us from the big PL clubs where they are not first team choices do not turn out to be great buys. And from what I remember of Smith-Rowe he was a very tidy player, but had no outstanding attributes and for that sort of fee I would expect the arrival to be a game changer.

On Saturday I had a discussion concerning Smith Rowe with a learned gentleman who highlighted some of the qualities of the 'Croydon De Bruyne'. Effective one-touch football, incessantly on the move, admirable workrate chasing down opponents, high-intensity sprints, runs with the ball at pace etc etc etc.He was deployed mainly as a No 10 by Danny Cowley at Huddersfield, who signed him on loan from Arsenal but he can play in a range of attacking positions. Over the last 4 years he has had injury woes side lining him for significant periods. Edited by Willo (22 Jul 2024 9.50am)
