I also worked with a guy who knew Laurence Doe very well..apparantly he is twice the size now! This pic was taken prior to the 1988/89 first division campaign I believe.
Interesting to note that four of the apprentices had excellent league careers. Simon Osborn has was released by Walsall and has been training with Stafford Rangers. He had a long career with us,Reading,QPR,Wolves,Tranmere,Port Vale, Gillingham and Walsall and is settled in the midlands although has a house in Petts Wood,Kent. Gareth Southgate has had the most disguinshed career of them all with England honours and as we know is now Boro boss. Goalkeeper Andy Woodman is his best mate and was his best man...'Woody' has had more clubs than Tiger Woods and is now in non league football I belive. Jamie Moralee played a handful of games for us before making his name at Millwall,Watford,Brighton and Crewe. Has now retired and works with Frank Sinclair in a property business. Barry Ellis went on to play for Whyteleafe and I met him after the Watford match last year..takes his son to games when he can. David Stevens played mostly non-league and used to date my current wife!
