Danny Butterfield
Rob Sedgwick from Grimsby fan site The Electronic Fishcake - www.electronicfishcake.com - says we have signed a good player in Danny Butterfield.
Rob said: "A versatile player for us, played right back, right midfield and central midfield. The latter of which was most controversial, but he was excellent for us in the centre at the end of last season.
"He can be brilliant on his day, but on occasions drifts out of games, looks disinterested, and gives the ball away too often.
"That made him rather unpopular with a section of our fans, but even his biggest critics were silenced during the awesome last few games for us.
"All in all a good signing, and given his age, I suspect he will find consistency, and be a good pro and have a successful career ahead of him. Sadly not for us!"
Grimsby Town boss Paul Groves was also sorry to see Butterfield depart the club.
He said: "It's a big blow that Danny looks to be going. We found out about the move last night - it's not cut and dried, but it's looking that way.
"It's disappointing be cause we wanted to keep him, but that is the harsh reality of being at a small club. Danny's big asset was his versatility and he's a young lad who is still developing."
